Will a higher boost level have any effect on stock rods? Or is it more related to actual RWKW?Remembere reading a while back that stock rods are good for approx 450RWKW, but keen to hear other stories/opinions.

Reason I'm asking is because I've got shotpeened stock rods, keen to know if running x amount of boost will be detrimental to them.

UAS posted somewhere they bent a prepped rod at 430'ish rwkw. Boost is irrelevant.

That's what I read, thanks for the clarification.

Any idea if that was due to the power level or boost level? I won't be anywhere near 400rwkw btw.

Power is what bends rods, boost doesn't matter.

you will be fine. I have personally looked at gibbon tammers rods/pistons and they were in excellent shape.

but to sleep easy like he wants to you should go forged why your in there.

Why won't you be anywhere near 400?
I think you could come close actually

Kinda wish I did, but the motors already built, didn't think I was going to be running 28RS, so I didn't bother and spent the money elsewhere.

Maybe, we'll just see what happens :)

A 400kw engine will be pretty quick. Auming for solud responce and not getting too cought up in the peak power number will also make it really exciting.

I wouldnt stress too much about it! how often will you be fully loading your car with 400rwkw ahahaha :br:

sounds like it will hammer on the top end.

Keep RPM's at a sane level, keep detonation away(good fuel/E85) and i'd have no problems pumping 450rwkw with stock rods. Infact my forged bottom end is on shotpeened stock rods with ARP rodbolts.

Stock rods are more than enough at your projected power level Dean.

Thanks, I was just interested in if it was just raw power that was their downfall or if boost played a part.

Compare boost to cylinder pressure during burn.

That will be the answer to your question.

RPM will probably be at 7.2-7.5, also have ARP rod bolts.

Good to hear it's mostly RPM based.

There's something yu must take into account when using ARP rod bolts on the stock rods. As they often fit with much greater torque, they can warp the rod into an oval shape around the big end, like head bolts warp the upper side of the cylinder. I would suggest you get the rods checked for any out of round with the ARP's fully torqued on a rod that isn't yet fitted of course.

Thanks for the heads up, I'm sure my builder checked everything before installation :)
