Eddie the slot car is running a dog box -your '98 should sound nothing like it! Try the boot like Jonno said, I've experienced the same thing due to a torn boot. The boots themselves are about $7 from coz
Do I see some sneaky right thumb action on the NOS button on the home straight? On lap 2 he just flies past that 260Z, and even that thing looked fast (definitely not a L26)
The TWO boots on the gear-lever, Arvin(if either one is torn, unseated or missing, the noise is very obvious).:zlove:
The ones you had in the "wanted" thread I replied to a couple of weeks ago! Here http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=323687

What laptimes was the slot car doing? That red 240Z has a 310hp L28 3.1L stroker in it with triple 45mm Webers. Fastest 240Z of the meet.It was running 1:51s i think.
Slotcar did a 1:48 Didn't really get a clean lap every flying lap we rounded up on a Datsun which slowed us up for a corner or two. Also a few things that were not corrected for the day , believe me- car is very capable of doing a 1:41 or less
That car is miles faster than those times reflect. Shitloads in fact. Couple of things I noticed, First, chroissst that thing slingshots when its given the berries in a straight line!!! Wow! Tailshaft vibrates! Motorcycle type lines, altho look smooth and save tyres are not really fastest! Not once did I see any kind of brake chatter or weaving under heavy brakes, tyre protesting, steering correction on mid corner or corner exit indicating trying hard. Try harder! Not close enough to disaster!! That wepon has easily enough horsepower to drift the entire bowl onto the front straight!!! Oh yes, downshifts right at the top of that deceptively tricky T2 can lead to a serious trip into the kitty litter or at least take a long look at the opposition coming at you. Either select the lower gear or roll it gently through in a higher gear. Now before anyone gets huffy with the "WTF do you know Formula Vee man", I have done consistent mid high 30's at P.I. so i have a working idea of what it takes to get around there in a reasonable rate. Just observations! E
No alot of limiting factors contributed but the old car/set up did at 1:45 This is lighter/faster/more powerful with better aero and can easily do a 1:41 if not faster As 'TAS mentioned below he picked up on the fact the car wasn't even straining really except down the straight where it obviously out did everything except for the skyline that came down with us
Good clear vid, rocket ship down the straight, impressive!! Re lap times at PI here's a link up to 2012 http://www.docstoc.com/docs/140077069/PHILLIP-ISLAND-LAP-RECORDS---Phillip-Island-Auto-Racing-Club.... note last lap record from of any class was broken in 2005 in a low cc class & most lap records of all classes occured in the late 90's to 2003, I find that amazing in some ways considering the improvements motors & components, chassis technology. Lap record held buy Kiwi Simon wills X Trans am racer from NZ who raced many times with Craig Baird in that class in NZ in the 90's. 1.24 he was timed in an old 94 reynard single seater V6 I think. Formula holden class. Imagine what a F1 could do, 1.12s maybe? V8 super cars 1999 Craig Lowndes 1.31, Porsche J Richards 1.33, F500 1.31, Top superkarts unlisted 1.31.32's. Moto GP 1.29, 500's 1'31's So 1.40's is a good time for a non space frame chassis like a super sedan mega HP injected V8 with carbon class body posting 1.33 time.
It has so much power. you will notice in the video John was pretty conservative with the pedal. He did hold back lot from flooring the accelerator until the car was well an truly straight out of easch bend. That was how the others caught up so quickly on each turn. Pretty esy to end up pointing the wrong way of you are not careful. More practice required by JP? Probably. Its hard and expensive to get track time with a car like that I expect.
