Are you guys replying to me?

It's not lifter tick, you can barely hear it over the engine. It's a very subtle rattle noise.

mate on this forum before has mentioned diesel oil, run this for half a day in your car it has high detergents which release shit loads of built up scum drain and this generally improved the tick tick noise of the lifters

My old engine had lifter tick because it wasn't getting any oil up there due to a crushed pick up. Heaps louder than my current engine, you've got to strain to hear anything.

I was replying to you. If you think you have vct rattle listen to the 2 youtube videos that I linked to in my earlier posts in this thread. They clearly show the difference between vct rattle and lifter noise. That said all I can hear in your youtube video is lifter tick.

Lol, dude... If you think my video sounds even remotely like the videos you posted you might want to book an appointment with the audiologist. Lifter tick is loud and makes a TICK noise that increases in speed with revs. My old engine was full of it.

Er my bad man. That vid you linked was showing VCT noise and I thought you said it was showing lifted tick

That said, my car is way too quiet for it. My old engine was loud as ****.

Alright I'll make it easy for you

    LIFTER TICK

    VCT RATTLE

Obviously there's varying degrees of severity with lifter tick, relating to how many are making noise and how gummed up they are. Now the fact that I can only hear lifter tick (no my ears work just fine thanks ) either means that you have very little to no vct rattle, or your recording with a mobile phone which isn't picking up the sound.

End of the day I wouldn't be too worried if your engine is only relatively stock. If it really bothers you you can spend $600+ on 24 new lifters and several hundred more on new vct gears or the upgraded bde gears (though from what I gather they aren't really necessary unless you're running bigger cams).

Changing to a thicker oil - can help eliminate the lifter tick
(it hangs onto the lifters better)

I don't believe in that. If you want to fix lifter tick, pull them out and replace or rebuild. More often than not they are seized. Oil 'hanging' does not stop them ticking. They are a self adjusting spring loaded piston.
