Left the car at home today. started her up. And she revs her F****** nuts off. Won't stop revving. Please help, what could it be? It doesn't stop unless i obviously turn it off.
sounds like throttle is stuck open, check out your throttle bodies, cables etc to see if they're stuck open.
sticky throttle some where.. in the accelerator line, cruise control line or the throttle bodies them selves... wd40 the throttle bodies, disconnect the lines and seeif it keeps doing it;.
Check that your throttle is not stuck. There is a pipe for the PCV system which can blow out under high boost / high revs, and can stop the cam drive on the throttle linkage from closing. This would result in like 4500RPM worth of 'revving its nuts off' (depending on where it's stuck). Just pull the hard pipes off, and also have a look at the throttle plates to see if anything is causing them to stick open.
thanks for the advise guys. I got an hour to sort this out before I'm suppose to take the lady out for our 3 years :/ great timing aye. 4500RPM.... HA! It's red lining... :/ I figured to disconnect the turbo timer because it was stopping it turning off immediately at least.
Same thing happened to me, but while I was driving coming out of a side road at a T-intersection...bloody scary... Have a read here. Hope you can get it solved mate. If it happens while driving, wack it into neutral ASAP!
Nah my zed will never die! Sorted!! Here's the story in case anyone's interested. Got some hard pipes on last night. Drivers side went on easy. Passenger side i struggled so considering I had to go to bed (early start), and dad was wide awake, I asked him to have a go at putting them on. Woke up this morning, and the passenger side was on. Rode the bike to work as I normally do. Got home and decided to start her up. Barely touched the throttle, and she just kept revving til red line and wouldn't stop screaming. So i turned it off. Said "WTF" and called a family friend (mechanic) So we took the pipes off. What did I find? Left over rubber from the last pipes caught in the throttle thingy (sorry still learning this shiz) anyways pulled all that crap out. And thankfully nothing else got sucked all the way in. sooooooo close. Not over revving anymore. Runs smooth as per usual. Problem Solvered
Yep, I had a stuck throttle in a 1990 Mitsi GTO at 180km/h while on a drag strip - the meters go really fast when you are trying to work out what to do! Ended up turning the engine off, but then that ment no brakes thanks to vacuum assist and 1800kg, so foot hard down on the brake and pull as hard as I can on the hand brake. Turned out to be a big o ring jammed in the throttle body (the GTO uses an o ring on the outside of the throttle body for a better seal!)
