So, my new TT was originally converted from na by a dodgy shop, who fabbed all this up. Not sure what's worse, the fact they thought it was a good idea to even try this, or that someone was probably awful proud of their work once they were done.

This pipe was so bent up and out of round that the hose clamp wouldn't seal it properly and was causing a giant boost leak.

...oh yeah, they modified the radiator to make it all fit too.

This just blows me away. WHY WOULD YOU NOT USE THE OEM INTAKE PIPEWORK OUT OF THE WRECK.

    SO MANY LABOUR HOURS

more hours on the grinder and the MIG than there was removing old pipework.
If something on a car is 'custom' it is only as good as the craftsman who makes it.

Blunt question. How much did you get charged...?

Also that rad. Wow. Obviously they didn't think of the issues they caused when reducing the tanks that much...

seeing that radiator in person blew me away. Gotta be first prize for the dumbest mod ever to a Z, especially to an aftermarket alloy radiator.....man, stupid, stupid, stoooooopid shit:confused: Good thing that Z is in good hands now or it would have died a very painful death

Nooooooo I would never pay money for this. No idea how much the previous owner paid, but if it was more than the scrap value of the aluminium then it was too much.

Was that pipework bent and bashed like that by accident or done to make clearance?

My guess is for clearance, it was a bit tight in there due to the different routing of the pipework to the other side.
