Ok guys i noticed in the last week my voltage had dropped to around 12.7v from the usual 13.5v while driving, last night while going to pick up someone voltage had dropped to 10.5v while driving and had even turned both my headlights out for a split second. Today i tried to start it and nothing, no power at all. Got the jumper cables out, car showed 12.9v, started and ran fine till the jumper cables were removed and voltage started to head towards 9.8v, turned the lights on and she died straight away, battery is pretty much brand new. stuffed alternator or????

    yep. alternator is dead.

voltage should be near 14.4v with car on.

If it was the battery voltage would be lower then 12v with the car off then go up past 14v with car on.

the less voltage your showing on idle the less life there is left in your electrical system.
