Someone said to me the other day there was a 300Z 300ZX coming out. I think they got it wrong though and meant the GTR 2013 model. Anyone know if a new model Z is planned after the 370Z anyway?
I think the French run things now, this is really a 350z underneath coming out in 2013. http://www.worldcarfans.com/112112150816/2013-peugeot-rcz-priced-from-21595-gbp-uk
You're an idiot. SuperZ, here's the info your friend was referring to: http://www.themotorreport.com.au/54366/nissan-silvia-off-the-cards-z-to-get-lighter-cheaper
I do think the Z car has lost its way in terms of engine size and body weight, and I would love to see it come back to something closer to the GT86, sort of back to around a 2.5 6 pot non turbo, and get it back to a drivers car rather than something an American would like (hides behind wall)
The Z has been "American" for so long, even the 300ZX, and back to the 280ZX, were large cruisers with big 6 engines. Sure it started as the little 240, but it soon escalated. If they want to bring in an 86 rival, they may as well bring back the Silvia nameplate I say. That said, if the next Z is more exciting and less over-done, I'm all for it.
Thanks! The early Z's were fairly individual & ground-breaking - didn't borrow too heavily from competitors & that's probably why they did so well. Lost their way with the 280 & Z31 but started fresh with the Z32. IMO, the 350 & 370 is just too similar to several other models. I certainly hope they get back to creating something ground-breaking with next model. That young designer in the youtube clip needs to stop daydreaming about the current model... Good clip though!
Fun fact: they sold twice as many Z31s than Z32s...and the Z32 was sold for nearly twice as long (11 years vs 6)
86 is junk interesting fact that more Z31's were sold. I actually thought the 86 was going to be a great car, until I actually saw one. Worst still - I thought it was a V6, so imagine my surprise when I looked under the bonnet and saw the whippersnipper engine It's a piece of junk! Have heard somewhere else on line that they were still going to run the 240Z Concept sometime in the future, that would still be a good thing as it doesnt look too bad. I actually just wish that they wouldv'e make a V8 Z32 production line in all these years - even if they made it a Z32 300 based model (say just like lysergics LS1 - a piece of artwork more than a car!) I wouldn't have to dream all the time about building one I'm sure they wouldnt have had a problem selling them, even though V8's are on the decrease.
Japan isn't about V8s, it never has been They like doing more with less, not doing a little with a lot.
Laguna Coupe is on the D platform, the same that's under the very boring Maxima (Teana) and Altima. The 370Z is on the FM platfrom. They are worlds apart. Do you really believe they're built on the same architecture? Are you seriously that out of touch with reality? One's FWD for crying out loud! You are either genuinely delusional, or Aus300ZX's biggest troll.
