I have a white 1990 Auspec 300ZX with a set of OEM rims in good condition (as in no gutter rash whatsoever) on which the original silver paint is not surprisingly looking a bit tired. I am considering getting the OEM rims repainted and thought matt black or gunmetal grey could work. Any thoughts on what wheel colours look good against white? Also, anyone with pics of repainted OEM wheels? Thanks.
There was a thread a year or more ago about someone getting their OEM wheels coloured, but can't find it yet... Here's some: WHITE POLISHED BLACK (prob look better in contrast with white Z - try photoshopping them on) JUST NO... DON'T....
NO No No all are NO.. go gunmetal grey, or even a light silver? or if black, a high gloss black? best in my opinion would be shadow chrome, there are diy kits for it, but i'd just take them to a chomer (not the kind you see on the melbourne trains sometimes) and do it properly. Shadow Chrome is the new Black i think they say
None are that bad, you could do a LOT worse. black on black can be a bit much sometimes, if I had the chance to re-do I'd go bronze.
You can get powdercoat pretty cheap and it's going to be harder wearing than paint. I would go a satin black powdercoat on a white car.
I tend to agree - when I first saw the pic, I thought 'nah, too much white', but with the black tyre and all the other darker parts of the car (rubber, tinted windows, rear light surround, etc) doesn't look too bad, as long as they're clean!
Just got my new wheels on in Gunmetal Grey....pretty happy Sorry the photos aren't great quality, just shot them with a little camera while squeezed in the garage....
^^i disagree Ive got gloss black powdercoated rims on my custom pearl white zed...I definitely like how it looks & ive got nothing but compliments even from the tv guy that interviewed me about the zed yesterday Abraham
