So pulled the carpet out of my parts car today and stumbled upon this:

I'm guessing it's some sort of assembly checklist? It was under the floor carpet behind the drivers seat. Anyways just thought I'd share as I thought it was kinda cool. :zlove:

Top one looks like something to do with the brake system. ABS possibly. Along with some diagnostics or variables.

Bottom one does look like a option to remove the hatch/roof in opt for a soft top or modified hatch...

PM toshi and see if he can translate. Cool find though.

Love it how in the last pic, they've drawn in 2 fuel caps. You know, just to be fair and not show preference between a 2-seater and a 4-seater....

Woah. Crazy. Very interesting. Reminds me of the EXA, which had a regular hatch that was (relatively) easy to remove, and could be driven with no hatch, or swapped for a wagon style or canvas style replacement.

On that last one...is that a picture of the Earth? Is the car in space?
Was interstellar travel on the Japanese options list?

I will take a punt and say quality control work sheets.

The inspector was feeling crook that day wiped his arse and hid it under your carpet.

Is the car KL0 silver ?

First sheet unused, second one has inspector stamps on it and looks like some paint rework required on drivers door and passenger t-top, maybe stamped when re-inspected and passed.

Nice find, there was a thread years ago about left over Jap stuff found in cars, but that was coins, parking stubs etc, this is much more cool.

Looks like an assembly line quality control checklist. Used in a quality focussed assembly plant, where variants are built-in.

Does anyone know how these cars were built, because this system is time consuming and not suited for mass produced cars.

I think the assembly task is completed then checked before the next task is started.
The build sheet travels with the car throughout the assembly.

At the end of each stage the build sheet is checked again.

Anything that isn't checked and double checked affects the quality records; collapses like a house of cards.

I think it is something like that.

The build sheet should be completed as your car was obviously finished and sold.

Yeah assembly checklist, not completed though. Only has a few things scribbled on it (I guess about as far as they get before laying the carpet down haha). The checkboxes on the back have diagrams pointing to what I assume are points to check/need attention on the front and rear subframes, steering and abs systems. Also looks like they do an emissions check on the car as there is an area to fill out the co% hydrocarbon and co2% readings.

Edit: The other side with the removable roof appears to be like a final check sheet or something. Has 2 japanese symbols with lines one pointing to the drivers door and one to the passengers targa, possibly damage received during assembly? Not sure how it made it under the carpet though.

Edit edit: Yeah kl0 silver. ASR is code for the interior I guess?

Dafuq are you on about.:rofl::rofl:

1st. I pulled it out from underneath the carpet, doubt a logbook would be on the production line.

2nd. The car is an aus-spec so no Jap logbooks since it's spent its whole life here in Australia.

Dafaqing servis logbook is what I is talkin about - LOL

LOL - Seriously it is part of the service log book that came with the Z32 on purchase.

Do you want me to photocopy the exact pages from mine??

Dont know whether these came with ausspecs as my TT is a J-Spec.

I assume they wouldnt send an japanese written version with an ausspec but I dont know about that part or why you have one, I certainly havent seen the equivalent service logbook in english to this date though.

F... knows why its under your carpet or how it got there? But the more important question is I wonder where the rest is hidden then - you have about 38 paper pages still to find yet?

But that is what it is definately from - lol - the Z32 service log book.
Red thin cardboard cover with about 40 pages of black jap writing all through it (even has that japanesey cartoon look to it throughout - lol).

    ;)

Japanese log books wouldn't be on the assembly line ,
However the quality control check list would be since the car was assembled in japan.

Misszen is saying its a log book.

atleast understand whats going on before acting smart

    All shall be revealed...

"The Kanji Dictionary" - Spahn & Hadamitsky, expensive, hard to use but gets the job done.

    完成 (kansei) = Completion, accomplishment

    検査 (kensa) = Inspection, examination

票 (hyou) = slip of paper, ballot, vote.

    SO... joining together we get

Kansei Kensa Hyou.... or Completion Inspection Slip
