Dont know if its been asked or not, but wateva imma ask it anyways So the title says it. Is it possible to give the zx a flip up lights conversion. Has it ever been done? Am really keen coz i love the flip up lights, but i also love my precious zed; so why not put them together haha
Wouldn't it be 1.8/3 of a 300zx Graham Edit: also, take a huge wad of cash to a body shop, tell them to fit 180sx lights and done. Then you can enjoy all the troubles that come with pop up headlights.
I'd like to see a set properly done tbh, I can't see it being that hard... Just get a plate made up the same as the headlight, use a motor to control the lights, easy. Only issue I could foresee is the lack off room to have them folded down, and what style headlight you could use.
has to be forward facing so besides designing a light from scratch using an existing 180 or similar flip up light would be easiest... try and weld in the front end.. then modify front bar, bonnet, nose panel. IMO Work > positive effect
Spot on!! I have never met an owner of a car with "flip-up" lights, that hasn't had a continual string of annoying problems with them. Why would anyone want to destroy the aerodynamics of a Z32 by sticking a bloody "vertical windbreak' up into the air-stream? Bet you were really pissed when you missed-out on acne.
pop-up lights went out of vogue for 2 reasons. 1 - They look terrible 2 - Lambourghini Diablo owners started to get upset when their car suddenly became loose and unstable, prompting some spectacular sideways action when they turned their lights on at 200km/hr on the autobarn. Hence the rapid implementation of Nissan headlights on the 2000 diablo. This was never an issue for the MX5, RX7, Z31, 180SX, 850 and all the other cars which rarely saw those speeds, let alone decided to switch their lights on mid run.
Take the diablo for example (which runs 300ZX headlights) looks MUCH better without popup lights. The car looks much newer without popups.
Agreed that the car looks newer, but newer does not equal better. A 2012 Yaris looks newer than a 1980 Testarossa, but I know which one looks better. Cheers, Kirill
