My zed has somewhere in its previous history been converted from an Auto to a manual and I am trying to work out what has happened with the wiring in the process - particularly with regards to the cruise control aka ASCD.

When I connect the battery there is the distinctive click on the ASCD cancel relay (located in the engine bay) and over a period of time the relay becomes quite warm meaning there is a constant supply of power coming to the relay I am trying to trace back the issue but having a little trouble.

The a/t control unit is still in the car but unplugged - it might sound like a stupid question but considering there is bit of interaction between the ASCD control unit and the A/T control unit is there any issue keeping this connected?

Cruise control is a separate unit that holds a 2nd throttle cable in place thus cruising...

far as i know nothing to do with tranny at all

understand that on a physical level they are different but each has a computer that talks to the other to activate and deactivate relays - in this case the cancel relay is being triggered by something and i am wondering if that is because the a/t computer is not connected..

Refresh my memory - is your steering wheel stock or aftermarket?

We clarified that the ASCD relay is only energising it's coil, nothing else is being switched on as a result.
But that was with engine not running due to it being absent :D

Hard to know where to start with the wiring issues you have, A+ for your patience and persistence mate :)

Me, I'd have arranged a quiet little insurance fire by now :p

Do people disconnect the Auto computer when doing a manual conversion ?

thanks mick - patience is a virtue, not long now and i should be in a position to put it all back together as all the parts are making there way here :)...

yes it is a stock wheel - nothing worked on it when purchased but that has been rectified now
