You sussed out the gearbox adaptor and fly? Won't be able to use a 2J or VG fly it won't line up with the crank and throw out bearing.

    Heresy

What don't you just buy a supra and do that up. It's will be cheaper and then you will still have a REAL Zed and a REAL Supra. It's one thing to do the conversion it's a totally another ballpark to get great performance gains from this swap. I'm with Josh on this. For the trouble and the money you want more cyl's at the very least. In the end though, it's your decision and I wish you luck.

I really compare this to someone buying a Holden and converting to a ford engine of the same size. But what would I know, I can't even change a thermostat :D LMFAO Good Luck boyz!!!

Someone correct me if im wrong here but I would think if you are getting a front cut couldnt you just use the supra box and get a custom made tailshaft? obviously thats not everything but wouldnt that solve the issue of mating up parts that arent meant to be together?

The R154 manual box goes for more than $1k and the Getrag can go for $4k. He'd be much better off with an adapter plate to the Z32 box. It'll be a lot less hassles too.

if he was getting a front cut the sensible thing to do would be to get one with a manual box? I just figured that might be easier, cause its all very easy to say get an adapter plate but i would imagine there would be some sort of issues with finding a clutch setup that would work?

2JZ swaps in the past have all used Z32 manual boxes IIRC, with the 2J clutch or something similar. There're more issues and costs involved with switching a new gearbox.

    Interesting

This is all very interesting to me. I know this is off the topic a little but what is there to be gained by this swap? Please help me to see the light. Is it a reliability thing or a preference thing or something like that?

Absolutely **** all. It's a highly expensive wank factor mod which will leave him with a slower, laggier, worse sounding and less legal engine than the one already there.

8 months since the original thread was started and you have yet to get the half cut?!

    Never going to happen.

I had least had my V12 before I started the thread....
