I just resprayed my Z a month ago in candy and now I have a dent on the front fender where the hinge hit the guard why I ever put shit shit on my car I don't know, oh wait I was 19 at the time lol If anyone can be of any help that would be appreciated Cheers
I know the member 'Lil Baz' has a set of hinges with new gas struts that he purchased of me and has had them for a long time now and has not fit them....talk to him, he may be prepared to sell as a complete unit
I can help Ive got lambo doors on my zed too...similar thing happened to mine too. After around 3 months after i got the kit installed the passenger side shock failed...when we pulled the kit apart, we found out that the shock was faulty hence why it failed. You can buy replacment shock from ebay...im running 750lbs if i remeber correctly. There are 2 different types of thread sizes for the shocks...T10 & T12 i believe...you will need to find what thread type your shocks are as each manufacturer of the kit could use different thread types. Oncw you have found that out, jump on ebay and type of xx lbs lambo shocks Txx...you should be able to find it easy...let me know if you can and ill find you the cheapest set. It shouldnt be more than $50 each...or $80 for a set... Feel free to pm me if you need any help Goodluck Abraham EDIT - thanks Dean...i posted after you posted lol
Thanks guys and thanks heaps Abraham, i have someone coming pats who reckons they can re gas it for $50, if this fails then il get the ones of ebay, mine are 750lbs not sure on the thread but will find out later. Here is the ebay listings I found http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_...750lbs+lambo+shocks&_sacat=See-All-Categories Thanks heaps again
universal engineers supplies (UES) at regency park should be able to help you. ph 8340 1599. there a supplier of ours and i buy lots of gas struts through them. Also, Economical Superior Parts (gay name yes) at brighton. He does call outs and either regasses struts, or makes new ones if he cant fix the old ones (usually due to fked out seals etc. ph 8377 1995. We had this guy build us a special strut. Funky size and with 1500nm of pressure. Very odd strut for its application. Ended up perfect and was well priced.
Not a problem happy to help If the regassing doesnt work...let me know and i shall have a look at the place i got mine from and ill forward you a link. I personally wouldnt regass it as i would rather pay for a new one...but if its done properly then all good. Feel free to ask me if you get stuck or need any help Abraham
as you would have found out, these doors can be a pain, They need a service optimally every 6 months (summer to winter) as the varying temperature affects the gas struts if you have noticed or at least once a year. Idealy re-gasing works well however you may find some times you will have to get a new gas strut or i even upgraded mine, the ones that were supplied worked but i found lost compression to quickly. take the gas strut out and search around for a similar sized one and fabricate your own piece up with a stronger strut, door is much more reliable and mine seems less affected by ambient temperature
Cheers, interesting piece of info the guy that is re gassing mine told me was he said try installing them upside down if you can so the ram is facing down not up, this will let the oil inside the strut flow to the seal which helps preventing it from wearing out, rather then sitting on the bottom of the cylinder. Hopefully he gets back to me tomorrow with it redone and working Now I just got to work out what I wanna do with that new dent in my fresh candy paint job
I read sometime ago that a zed lambo owner added an additional strut to each door hinge. So he had four struts. Two for each door. This mod would maybe make ease of operation.
I would say that would be a costly modification...also why do that, when you can just install bigger struts like did...opens up easily. WLDTTZ...also another tip use locktight when you install the hinges again as it will stop the doors from getting loose again Abraham
Oh yea, well he came past today and I installed it now its back to how it was Now just to do something with that dent
