The weather was beautiful in the morning and the afternoon, just a shame about the rain in the middle of the day. The skid pan is slippery enough when it is dry, but add water and it goes to a whole new level. It was dissappointing to see such a poor turn out from the Nissan camp this year with Mikey Jen and I being the only Aus300zx representatives on the day, although Mark and Shaun (with his daughter) came up for a look as usual and enjoyed the day. Cam Biggelaar was back with his awesome AC Cobra and although he has won the VB challenge for the last 3 years he was finally dethroned this year by younger brother Richard in his beautiful 260Z. Jen finished a very creditable 19th, just beating Mikey in 21st with me trailing well down in 27th on the Skid pan. I don't really get into the skid pan like the others do. I'm more interested in the back track where the mighty Z32 shone through finishing first with a time of 46.34 seconds on the last run. Mikey punted the Magna around with a best time of 54.16 was impressive for the front wheeler and unfortunately Jens best time of 54.99 was ruined by a 5 second penalty for hitting a cone in the finish box. I didn't take a heap of photos because I was concentrating on driving but there are a heap up on the NDSOC facebook page and Jen uploaded a few videos to her facebook page so feel free to check them out. Here is one of Jen about to head out to the track. And a great shot by NDSOC Pres Dave Jones of the escort up on two wheels. It actually got higher before landing back on 4 wheels but unfortunately bent a front strut and ended the day on the trailer. All I can say is bring on next year!!!!
looks like a great day, would love to do one of these but stuff keeps coming up! Fingers crossed for next year!
....... or for later on this year - Ford vs Nissan at the Bryant Park hillclimb near Yallourn/Morwell!
Is that the one.... that Pete is supposedly going to enter me in, to drive his car..... even though there is buckleys chance of me doing it?
I'll be back for a crack next year, backtrack will be more fun next year with more power :br: when is this?
Pretty sure it's Nov 26th; quick trip back to Melb for the Shannons Xmas dinner on the same day. Not sure that I'll be competing in this one - the Magna will hopefully be sold, and the Z isn't likely to be up and about by then. So I may well be a flaggie for the day.
