Hey guys, As many of you already know I have had a spate of bad luck with Zeds lately... But, it seems luck has taken a turn for the better! I recently acquired a 1989 Auto, TT, Slicktop which had been re-sprayed in metallic red. Generally not a huge fan of red zeds to be honest, but this thing is sexy as hell! Mod list reads as follows: Fully rebuilt engine 10,000kms ago Forged Ross pistons High flow turbos JWT ECU Series 2 heads ported and polished FMIC Vented guards 2k spec front bar Bomex side skirts Bomex rear bar 2.5" dumps + exhaust Tein suspension all round 18" rims with diiishhhh BOV's Etc etc Upon first inspection I was in love with this car albeit it had a lot of problems and wasn?t running the best. Compression test came up at 155-160psi all round which was excellent so I haggled with the seller until we came to a price I considered reasonable considering the work involved to get it up to scratch. Pictured below is just a teaser pic with the hideous engine bay. Over the next few days, it will receive a major makeover... No pics of the exterior just yet. Still to come... As drag day is fast approaching, I plan to complete the following to ensure the Zed will be ready to destroy some Falcodores Mods to be completed over the next 4 weeks: Install NA subframe Install Hi-stall Install Shift Kit, tranny cooler Install 3" ToyZ dumps and fronts Install GFB UDP Install 555cc injectors Install camber arms front and back Pretty up engine bay, series 2 ptu + relocate. hide wiring, black plenum, hard pipes etc Remove Hicas Paint and polish a few bits Install Nistune Book in for a tune Short timeframe for a lot of work but I'm positive I will be ready for tuning in 4 weeks! Chris (ezzupturbo) is coming to help with the shift kit install, hi-stall install and subframe install when he has a day free. Should be a big day! So... Today was a success! Managed to get the plenum off, injectors installed, fuel filter semi-relocated, UPD and water ODP installed, PS pump and alternator removed, Aiv's deleted, Cam covers off and cleaned up! More pics and updates to follow so stay tuned :br: :br: :br:
Depends... If it's possible, gonna use the front half of the tailshaft from the TT and the rear half from the NA.
Progress today! Replaced alternator Cam covers glued up and back on Pcv system reinstalled (after removal of catch can) Hicas solenoid removed Modded ps resi installed Hid some wiring Replaced a few connectors Should be on track for some sexy engine bay shots this coming weekend!
He's a good friend of ezzupturbos, of course he doesn't muck about. You know your one of my mentors so I'm real interested in this build. I've seen the car and she's a beauty. Looks like it's on for the drags, everyone one over here is getting stuck into their zeds. Keep it up guys.
Well yesterday was a little slow... Little hungover from Satty night... Completed the following: Re-route Temp sensor plugs Removed dumps Removed exhaust Changed all coilpack connectors Re-soldered a few wires Also found out that the turbo's appear to be rebuilt but stock Grrrrr... Now tossing up whether to pull the engine and stick on the bigger turbos I have sitting here which were destined for the spare engine... Hmmm...
Rubbish, you know it's the journey, not the destination. What size are the turbos your thinking of throwing on?
lol yeah true, although I am on a deadline and this is a setback... The bigger/other turbos should be essentially the same as a T28. Again they are high flows... The current Turbs are apparently T25. According to the original builder anyways... Stock are T22... Essentially not a whole lot of difference but hey. Think I'd just rather the reassurance that the tubs I'm whacking on are gonna get me to where I wanna be... Either that, or just keep the current turbos on there and boost the shit out of em!
I have on my zed TT front prop and NA rear, have removed it again as the vibrations were so bad, it needs balancing. would 100% recommend you get it balanced before fitting it. only my 2cents worth. Nathan
Decision made and underway! After much deliberation, engine, box, subframe, all to be pulled and upgrades imminent! Past few days: Engine and gearbox ready to be pulled! All lines and electrical disconnected. Tailshaft out Subframe locking rings ordered as well as rear camber arms New oil pump ordered Replacement sump sourced 3" Cats sourced and ordered AMS mani's received! Gonna have my ass hanging out gettin this thing done and tuned before drag day! But thats all part of the fun! Big weekend planned! Have the top gun (ezzupturbo) comin to give me a hand! Hopefully parts will arrive later on this week and can get crackin on: Shift kit install Hi-stall install Oil pump replacement Turbos and Mani's on And gear back in! Sound like a lot? Updates and piccy's to follow this weekend!
