hey guys.. pretty much what is happening id that there is a "Race ya mates" drag day on here in the next couple of weeks.. now my Z is running stock boost and a full 2.5" from the turbos back. Its already got a pod filter. Im just wondering if putting the boost up to 14psi, taking the indicator lights out so there is more area of the coolers able to cool down, and put octane booster in the fuel would be alright for a few runs down the strip? mainly its to beat a mate of mine in an S13 SR20DET, we have a wager on  so any help would be good guys
    Thanks as normal!

    Few things to do:

Get some better than stock Intercoolers or FMIC
Run BP Ultimate for the next week or so to flush out any inferior fuel and BP ultimate on the day.
Make sure u have no mare than a 1/4 tank fuel (For weight purposes)
    Get an aftermarket ECU maybe

Hahaha, Nos would be something to think about. Its more of a once off kinda thing. More or less.. do the above mentioned, do a couple of runs, return it back to stock and reep the rewards :D

Yeah, SR20DET rebuild to standard spec, T25 bush bearing turbo, front mount stock boost, manual.. kinda noobie driver for the car, i think my chances are pretty good :)

so would i be able to run 14psi through stock coolers with octane booster and BP 98 octane? i run BP ultimate through it anyway, and i thought with the indicator lights out it would cool just that little bit better. its only 1/8 mile as well.. so its not a huge track

you got some softer tyres to get off the mark without bogging down spinning a tyre

At the track, your driving skill will help quite a bit more than your mods. Have a few practice runs and get your launch to a good level and just go for it.

Quickest and cheapest way is a boost gauge and a TurboTech manual boost controller the best MBC available and its $20 or so. Or get a Turbosmart Eboost street 2. Not cheap but you'' hit 14psi quick and boost all the way to redline. [TIS]

You can run 14psi with stock SMIC's not daily but now and then would be fine. best bang for buck here is 14psi with a boost controller tho.

If this event is in the next couple of weeks, you won't have time for many, if any, mods. What you are proposing sound good but here's a couple of tips...

    - clean the pod filter - tap it firmly on a flat surface or use a vacuum cleaner to remove any dust buildup.
    - if you have the time and the cash, get the car dyno-tuned (I recommend Morpowa (14 Famechon Cresent Modbury North Ph:8264 2906 ))
    - during the practice runs gradually reduce your rear tyre pressure until you get a firm bite off the line.
    - generally with street tyres there is no real need to do a full burnout to heat the tyres, just do enough to dry them after driving though the water sprayed on the track,
    - go with the last yellow light... by the time the car actually moves, the green will have lit up.

    Most of all, have fun!

Cheers guys.. yeah, i dont have enough time to do any serious mods as such :( it kinda crept up on me. Im not one for show off burnouts anyway, personaly i dont like delamination cutting up my rear guards lol. well when i stall it up it would probs see 2,500rpm before it would start to spin.. so i will let the tyres down to see if bogs down any more :) cheers for the helpfull info guys. I will post times on this thread after the meeting :)

you have to test various launch revs staying higher say 4K keeps the motor in its highest torque range so engine doesnt bog down and has to build up again

Methinks 1/8 mile may give his lighter car the advantage over your heavier car.

Either way, pump the boost to 14 psi and best of luck!

hahah! i seen on youtube a honda civic (Supprisingly enough) with a leaf blower got an extra 30hp lol! then they cracked the valve of a NOS bottle into the suction side of the leaf blower.. 70HP  the boost is at 15psi atm.. using boost jet's seems to run fine, not that i have really driven it hard before the drags, i dont wanna jinx myself. so if i prove to get some decent times i reckon 3,800RPM stallie, drag radials, coolers, and nistune :) oh and a shift kit of some sort. So anyone actually played with NOS on here? it obviously cant be as easy as cheap thrills i wouldnt imagine.. any info would be great. cheers again :D
