i think it is awsome i seen it up close and gotta say its a very pro job i love it. the lights are not my style but thats just my op.
I did a similar thing with blocking out my rear reverse light panel... but to remain legal I put a strip of ultra white leds between the top of the light panel and the boot lid where you put your fimgers to lift up the boot... still has enough room for a finger on either side to lift up the boot.
Cool, thanks. Now all I have to do is find an Autobahn . The autobahn stores we have do servicing. Edit: Nope, none in WA http://www.autobarn.com.au/storelocator
Very nicely done. Colour is definitely a fresh colour. You've done yourself well. Give it a buff to bring out the shine. New paint jobs deserve some extra love.
Nice work mate. The workmanship looks great (from what I can tell). The colour is unique and lets face it every one has a different opinion about colour as long as your happy with it. What's happening with the third brake light paneL? Seems to be sticking out a bit at the bottom near the middle? I also like what you've done keeping the black across the roof.
Awesome mate, not my choice of colour but a tidy job and has come out nicely overall... not a fan of painted infill and centre panels myself but each to thier own Skid.
3rd brake light panel had been broken just above that shadow (by someone else) The repair wasnt brilliant but there was no point in getting a new one if I was going to paint it.
I love it. I've had 2 black zeds now and I needed a radical change. I had considered different colours but there are enough black, red, white, gunmetal and silver zeds going around. I had considered blue but Benny_C and 90TTZ carry the flag for awesome blue paint jobs. I wanted something elegant and was a cross between silver and gold. This lexus colour was a perfect fit. As towards the general dislike of the painted tails, Again I love it and I thought more people would agree. Black infills and tails on a light coloured car makes it look old. I work on alot of new cars and no one does it anymore. This is one of the reasons that people say that back of the zeds look dated. On a black car its ok as they dont stand out. As I was going a lighter colour, matching them was the only option. I was hoping for more lovers then haters. But as has everyone has politely added after their critisism, Each to their own. I love it and I am so happy to finally be driving a zed that I am not embarrassed to be seen in. :zlove:
i think the lights themselves look alright, its the painted infill panel that really kills it for me, really boxes up the back of the car, and makes it look like a plate should go in between, it just doesnt suit the unique styling and lines of a Z, but as i say as long as you are happy thats all that matters, we build our cars to our own tastes and most people would hate some things on my Z but its my car and i'll do what i want... NB: this is within reason, the people who read this and think a veilside kit, big chromies, mesh all over the front of thier car and giant whale tail wings.... all well and good to have such a car, its your car, but it offends our eyes so please leave it in garage at all times, suffice to the afore mentioned pics will not be required.
I think one of the really annoying things about improving our cars is that the more you do, the more the smaller things become noticeable. It's only that the rest of the car is now so clean and straight that these things become visible . I forgot to mention before, the ZToy spec bar looks great!
any change you could snap me a piccy of the mounting of the 3rd brake light? have to do a windscreen one on mine, and the aftermarket ones available look really tacky, wanted to do an LED bar, but struggling to find one at wreckers with a decent looking mounting to tidely put into my roof lining. without hours of mucking about
As said before, I absolutely love it (probably the fact that it is a Toyota colour), too many black, red, blue and white zeds around so good to see something different, it would not look as good if the lights and rear panels were left black.
Hey al big thanks for your help yesterday with my front bar. Saw the paint job and I think you have done an awesome job. Keep up the great work
great job by the looks of it, as i was looking a the pics i was nodding my head in agreement until i saw what you did to the ass end and i face palmed. would look better and more modern with the 2k tails/3rd brake light, it's also easy to see that your tail light panels are warped, or your center panel is. if it was all black it wouldnt stand out as much
does anyone else have painted rear lights other than ztoy and myself? My hatch has several dents across the area where the stock spoiler used to sit and the metal is quite soft.I was thinking of going back to a stock spoiler which would cover the dents and give it some strength but would not mind seeing a photoshop job or someone who has done that. ztoy - have you thought of a badge or logo of somekind in the middle of your centre panel to add some more detail? custom nissan or maybe z32. love the lights.
Cheers. Yeah I have always planned to put the "300zx" back where it originally was but in white like the stickers under the indicators.
the stickers under your front side indicators look cool. i was thinking of doing something similar myself but dont want to be too much of a copy cat.
I still havent had a photo shoot done as Ive been busy but I have got some snaps of some recent events. These are some favorites from a skidpan session The latest addition is a roof spoiler that is now in production. Some more shots showing off the wing from last weekends motokhana. Next mods are some resonators, cats and a center muffler. And Ill be fitting an Aircon back into the car.
