Dunno what it is. Is it the act of dismantling a perfectly good 300zx to glue newspaper and tin foil to it? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TF68oer576I Is it the bravery of posting your (recent) life's work on car enthusiast forums for the world to give their opinions? http://www.madmechanics.com/build-diaries/arash's-custom-kit-thread-vigor/?action=printpage Is it editing your car's promotional video to give that gangsta rap edge complete with G-rated burnout? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tl0Iqq24nmo&feature=related I'm actually looking forward to the next chapter. You certainly don't get anything this interesting on any of the Subaru or old Holden forums that I've been to. I wanna see if Arashi's 300zx makes it to production and takes the world by storm. Who's with me?
id rather drive a pink zed with racing stripes, a shopping list, 20inch chromies and a veilside kit rather than that piece of shit.
Did you miss the arashi boat? do a few searches and be entertained for a night. He was posting quite heavily earlier this year and pretty much got told to f off by everyone (there was even a vote). but yea, total wank.. edit: also that last vid, first 58 seconds is him closing the bonnet and 10 point turning out of his drive. Actually i dont know how many points were in that turn it faded out and came back to him at the end of the drive lol.
Why you baiting man?? We all worked so hard at getting him to piss off. This will just bring the lost case back...
Holy crap! You're right Matt! I did miss heaps of this. I can't sleep 'cause I've got the flu. This is gonna provide me with some interesting reading! This is backyard car kit production at its best. I admire the guy's persistence. 7 years in the making?
Sorry man. Just saw some of the more colourful discussions some of our members have had. Dunno if he is actually a troll. I think he's genuinely dismantled a 300zx to make a concept replica jaguar kit out of it.
his latest pic i believe, looking better than all the other pics ive seen but i still doubt he has the talent to bring it to life
really...i cant see any potential in that. Its just gonna be a DIY zed with some gay curves and some gayer lights imo...
There is even an Aston Martin replica kit. I dunno about this though: "I would use the existing headlights to cut cost and even use stolen shopping carts for grills" http://www.madmechanics.com/general-kitcar-chat/db9/30/ Maybe it's the pseudoephedrine in my cold and flu tablets talking but I'm looking for more.
Tin foil and newspaper...Gangster Yo... I hope becuase it's been parked on the grass so long, it has completely rusted the chassis rails out
how does paper mache fair in the rain? maybe he got serious and relocated to avoid that problem
he said he had a tarp over it and it still leaked lol. like the idea of making custom gear, all support, using papermash and such.. sure good idea... as a mould to get the shape then to Fibreglass over for the final copy and stuff like that...but not as the actual product.. no way you would ever get that perfectly smooth or be able to sand it back.. ie prime it, wet rub and sand would just destroy it. Will be interesting to see the final complete version just to see the project finished at least. but all in all lets just hope he doesnt reproduce.... though looking at the profile picture i think thats never going to be an issue.
I've taken the day off 'cause of the flu so I'll explain my fascination. You've probably read about some of the great coachbuilders like Pinifarina, Ghia, Bertone etc. They'd build bodies on top of existing automobile frames back when it was all seperated. You've probably also heard about all the kit car makers of the 60s and 70s. Bolwell is a good Aussie example. I'm a bit of a history buff so I do like reading about that crap. This Arashi stuff is combining all of this but it's being done in someone's front yard. There's no professional training in industrial design, fabrication, engineering etc. I haven't even seen any CAD drawings or discussions about tolerence testing results etc. It's almost "garage coachbuilding" and hasn't really been seen since before the 1980s. There were costings of around USD$3,000 for a bodykit. You're seriously competing against Veilside, Bomex etc. with that kind of asking price and with no R&D financial backing. Looking through the postings, this car has been paper mached since at least 2009. I wanna see it completed purely because the odds are completely against it. Go for it Arashi. I actually (and not sarcastically) want to see real photos of a fiberglass / carbon fibre / plastic kit. Let's see the VigorousZX as a completed prototype mate. Apologies in advance to the rest of you that were in the discussions earlier in the year. I'm still on the cold and flu tablets ("day" tablets now). For anyone going to Ross' on Saturday, you can throw poo at me there. I made sure the title of the original post was clear so you can skip reading it. Cheers.
You won't ever see this in fibreglass: And if you did, you'd never see the person who has it open their bonnet again.
The hood lines will cut over the headlights You've obviously never produced a car design video or a physical car design... just scribbled sketches Im sure... I made that shitty turn to really showing off the sides of the car, up close. Yes cru1sr, the idea was first conceived 7 years ago. Keeping a neutral comment today in-case the kit looks good, are we? The only gay photograph in this thread is what your hands are doing. lol You will all weep in envy once I finish that project Id like someone to post a picture of you and your lip stick 350z, you traded over to one right? :zlove: Coach building must have started from the time of horses and carriages. Dont you think my kit looks better? Im looking forward to it also Pics rearranged Photoshops
your so vain......... you really think this thread is about you............ dont you?................. *sing it*
hahaha oh no you did not just photoshop that sig... HAHAHAHHAAH 1) dude... i was saying i like people doing custom work.. i was supporting you, i was saying the choice of materials is very very poor and no one in the world would agree with a paper mash car.... neither will the RTA or what ever governing body you have over there for the motoring world. 2) who has green lipstick? 3) since when did I have a 350z? 4) by picture you mean this? Hmmm yeh na your right i wish i had you zed aye...
