Hi all, I think it's about time I upgrade my suspension since its squeaking to the buggery ... Was thinking about getting some coilovers from COZ since the aussie dollar is pretty good at the moment...Since my zed is a daily driver I'm looking at something that is more suitable for just that and is comfortable. What would you recommend from COZ' site: http://www.conceptzperformance.com/...ension&CA=36&UID=20100919232319118.209.169.84 Also..thought I might replace the bushes since I'm in that area..do you think this is all I need? http://www.conceptzperformance.com/...Car_Type=300&UID=20100919230611118.209.169.84 Would really appreciate your thoughts :zlove:
apparently the powertrix SS make a great daily driver coilover. bush's look the goods, is exactly what i got.
KYB Eibach gets my vote if you are getting stuff from COZ, other option would be to get KYB Excel G's and King Springs locally. Price might be better and they are perfect for daily driving.
I am also thinking those Powertrix coilovers look good for the price, keeping in mind she want's to retain stock (sagged stock ) ride height so hopefully these would be tall enough to adjust them to that. Also 8 and 6kg/mm spring rates won't be too stiff for a daily driver with comfort in mind? http://www.conceptzperformance.com/...Car_Type=300&UID=20100919232319118.209.169.84 Renee, maybe also look at getting some new adjustable upper rear arms at the same time as remember your current ones are stuffed (well the ball joint is). These look interesting, can't see if the black ball joints are actually a rubber boot but I believe that is what the current ones needed, no protection against dirt getting in and they shortly destroyed the teflon lining causing metal on metal wear. http://www.conceptzperformance.com/...Car_Type=300&UID=20100919232319118.209.169.84 Cheers, Craig
from what i read on the 300zxclub site, they are good. they are 15 way damper adjustable so will have some le-way for a more comfortable drive to a sporty one as well as height adjustable so it can go lower too. 8, 6kg will be fine. not too rough, but enough to give alot more feel of the car. that said, its what renee and you prefer craig i went 14kg F + R. only because i want little travel in the suspension running the wheels lol and i love the feeling of the road. again, for $950 u.s they seem great.
if your interested in any of the powertrix ones see if you can get into the group buy thats wrapping up at the moment clicky The SS's are going for us$799 plus shipping. Otherwise if your after a real comfy cruiser feel & want coilovers just grab the tein superstreets, they're more like 5/4. My current ones are 8/6 & while they're perfectly streetable coming from stock they're going to feel hard... Also if you need camber arms too powertrix have done a new limited edition version of their rear upper arms, clicky, which look like really good quality. & rod your insane running 14/14, my last set where 10/8 & they were hard. think you might change your mind once your zeds up & running again... cheers, Tim
I got Tein Flex coilovers on mine pretty much on the softest setting 1 or 2...not sure exactly and it feels pretty close to standard ride with 19" on the rear. Im sure Tein Super Streets would be again softer and even closer to standard.
haha tim, i ran those springs for a month before the zed came off the road. had 12, 10kg for around 4 months before that. i prefer the feel, zed was much more responsive and gave alot better feed back. plus much need snap oversteer
Hey Renee! have a read here!......that is if you haven't already? http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=303714 The Canadian guys have some great things to say wbout these! Vuk at AMS offered to match the Zcon special price for me seeing as I was placing a large order with them!.........although not sure if that also included the sub frame bushes??..........but I'm sure you could twist his arm!! With the savings on offer it was/is definitely worth some consideration!......especially with the skid coming to Oz!.......as this would help save on shipping heavy coilovers! or as Tim has said the GB on the Powertrix coilovers in the US may also be worth looking into! In the end I went with the TEIN Mono's! :zlove:........but at the price on offer for the AMS units it might be worth giving them a go?
Thanks for all the opinions guys ...still undecided which ones to go with..does anyone know much about the Powertrix brand?
Am leaning more toward the Tein suspension anyways..waiting for an email back from COZ..if I don't get the answer I want I'll read up on the Powertrix, thanks Rod
If you don't want to go really low, (defect low) then you can't go wrong with superstreets close to standard ride comfort and still give you a low zed.
yeah, i'd go tein > any brand personally. only because the set up i have in the zed, and the few ive been in that had tein are second to none.
Shoot Vuk at AMS a PM regarding the TEIN as well?......unless you want Oz spec spring rates of course??.......but he did me a great deal on the TEIN Mono's!.........& like I said the skid shipping may help save you a few $??
Just to add another spin to your deliberations: I too was also on the fence for Teins vs Powertrix - but seeking race spec mono-tube coilovers. Heres a direct quote from Charles at powertrix: "There is absolutely no comparison between the Tien Coilovers and our line of coilovers. Every line of our coilovers will ride better and perform more consistently due to the valving of our dampers compared to any of the Tien coilovers. We have had many switch to our set up, run them for everyday use, and they had the following to say: Ride quality is much better and more controlled without sacrificing any performance. Adjustments and much more exact and each click on the dampers makes a difference where as other coilovers need to be adjusted several clicks before any noticeable change is felt The Race and Ultra lite Coilovers are exactly the same with the exception of the housing of the dampers"
Well, obviously he's gonna say his product is better... I'm on the fence between Tein Monoflex and Racing Logic UltraComplex at the moment.
Thanks for all your help guys... Russ...I sent Vuk a PM to see what he can do..COZ says they have the Tein's available at the moment but the Powertrix I'm waiting for a 4-6 week wait..so will see what Vuk says..
