I went and put my car on a weigh bridge today to see how much i've lost since putting the 6L in.

Well it was around the figure I was expecting, if not a bit more: 1480kg

My car is a Targa 2+2 (originally auto TT) this is with basically everything behind the dash removed, no air con components, full trim including spare and half a tank of fuel.
In a way I was expecting a slightly lower reading considering how much stuff has been pulled out of the car to fit this motor.

The thing that impressed me most was its exactly .74t on both axles so the balance is a true 50/50 split.

I weighed mine at Morgan Park earlier in the year. Car is 2+2TT auto in standard trim. Weighed with half tank of fuel and me in the car - 1680kg. scales accurate to +/-10kg.

How accurate is a truck weighbridge though?

Do you still have a heater?

DOT is very strict on axle load limits for heavy vehicles. If they are keeping up the calibration on the unit, which I am pretty certain Cleanaway will be, the weigh bridge will be accurate to +/- 3%.

Yeah I have a heater but its a little 12v unit, still coolant fed from the motor. Its bolted in just behind the centre vents.

    You can see it here:

Its purely to satisfy the front window demist requirement

I read all these posts on people weighing their cars and got curious so I decided to do the same.

Currently I have an Aussie delivered 2+2 manual TT with a twin turbo conversion by AVO. I was also curious about its weight 'cause the car has a $12,000 stereo system in it with 3 amps, 3 subs, 2 CD stackers, custom panels (including custom sub box behind the back seat), thermal sensor, water cooling and radiator (just for the stereo!) etc.

I'm tearing it all 'cause it's gotta be worth about 40kg in the boot. I'm going to put in a USB / Bluetooth headunit, front splits and a 10" shallow sub to reduce the weight.

The car hasn't had any of the air con or panels stripped out. It has the spare wheel, jack, cargo cover etc. I was out of the car during the weighing. The scales tipped in at 1,580kg.

Once I get the new stereo installed and dry cell battery installed, I'll weigh it again.

Australian spec zeds would be a little lighter i would think due to the lack of optional extras that the jap ones have(electric seats etc) dunno how much it would actually be though..

Apparently the 2+2 from factory was 1650kg and the 2+0 was 1450kg. im pretty sure thats jap-spec only stats tho.

well i got the fattest, heaviest version you can get, which is a Z32 convertible, NA auto.....the only way to make it heavier in stock form would be if its TT, which unless custom doesnt exist.

i geuss technically if its the heaviest version it probly also the slowest......lucky me lol

Thanks for the weight info! My target is 1540kg. I reckon that is reasonable for a twin turbo targa roof 2+2 manual. To achieve this, I have a pretty modest plan:

    - Install a lighter stereo system with fibreglass sub box.
    - Replace all of the custom boot panels with factory trim.
    - Install a dry cell battery
    - Remove the spare wheel and jack.

If you want you can also "upgrade" to late model front seats. Nissan got rid of the electric seats in later models. I used to think that it wouldn't make much difference until I tried to lift my electric drivers seat out one day........ those suckers weigh a tonne!!!

    :)

Yeah. I felt the weight of one at a jap wreckers. Ridiculous.

I was thinking of going with carbon fibre seats to reduce the weight further but my (original) interior is near perfect. It would be a crime to change anything in it at this stage.

I've got nothing against anyone modding their interior or putting in bigger stereos. I just want mine to be close to original.
