Having been inspired by a few peoples efforts on here lately, I decided it was time to build an undertray and some ducting for my car... as it hasn't had any since I bought it. The undertray wasn't an issue - apart from lots of test fitting/measuring/cutting - and I'm pretty happy with it so far - need to road test it to see if I'll have to trim back the rear edges behind the lower control arms, but will see how they go.... I then decided to start on the ducting from FMIC to Radiator, only to find there is a lot of stuff in the way with a TT - so will be hard to seal between the chassis rails.... (Electric fan and centre brace have been removed to clean the Air con condensor - but Oil cooler is in RH Sidemount position) Also - I have a Side-by-side FMIC - which leaves this gap either side of the FMIC : Should I be blocking that up? Just running ducting from the chassis rails to the edges of the intake and leaving the gap round the FMIC? Sorry about the dodgy Iphone pics too Cheers
I can't believe this thread... I'm doing this today, lol. I got the same cooler, dunno if I can be bothered ducting that as well though. Ill be doing the front bit, and buying the UAS rear section. How hard was the rear part to do?? Does it need to vent at all?
LOL - good timing! I don't know if ducting the cooler is worth it, or just a lot of time/effort for minimal returns.... The rear part was no harder than the front - I made it one piece, as I could only buy a full sheet (1200mm x2400mm) and you don't really need to access anything in front of the crossmember regularly anyway... Its just a matter of measure, cut, trial fit, measure, cut, trial fit over and over lol Edit: RE vents - I'm thinking of adding 1 or 2 just behind the radiator - I've added a downturned lip at the very back (you can see it in the centre) as from another thread, this helps create negative pressure in the engine bay to help draw the air thru past the engine.... any comments/advice on this too would be great...
Will try to get some tonight... its hard to see much of it fitted, as not enough room under the car. Its got a bend just after the radiator to allow it to clear the Anti Roll bar, other than that its just cut so it sits fairly flat... Bolted to the radiator support, and the Crossmember.
yes block those open bits on either side of the cooler. u want to ram 100% of the air to go thru the coolers cores. if u want to be even more cool, make an air dam, so that air going thru the cooler goes thru the rad aswell... p.s u need better pics
Uploaded with ImageShack.us Mine was just a damaged solar hot water system and a couple of hours work!
get some more pics up got one with it out the car? did u make it? if so why didnt u just make the rear section aswell...
