Latest batch of ZIDs are being built now.

    Background
    • ZIDs have been available exclusively to the Australian 300ZX community for almost 5 years.
    • ZIDs are now protecting around 200 Zeds Australia Wide.
    • The ZID is an immobiliser specifically designed for the z32 300zx (1989-2000). There are reports on the aus300zx forum of ZID immobilisers successfully preventing thieves from stealing the owner's 300zx.
    • All ZIDS are hand-built and tested by myself.

    Who?
If you don't know me, run a search on my forum name to check me out. I've been around some 6 years in the Australian zed community, operate zedcare.com and am part of the aus300zx moderator team.

    Specifications
    • ZID self arms automatically upon removing the key. No need to remember to arm it so your zed is never accidentally 'unprotected'.
    • Installed with just 6 wires to connect + a couple extra connections.
    • ZID is highly effective due to:
    • Not being a large, commercial scale security product. Currently installed in around 200 zeds Australia wide, so highly unlikely to be on the thief's radar like well known brands are. Time is the thief's enemy. Any device which requires them to put in extensive work to learn how the unit is designed and located and finally bypass, will deter all but the most hardened individuals!!!
    • Designed specifically for the Z32 300ZX. Thieves need a very deep knowledge of the zed to be anywhere close to knowing how to find / disarm a ZID
    • Only sold to forum members
    • Installation instructions provided outline various locations for placing the unit and different wiring options to immobilise different circuits. So each ZID installation can be as totally unique as the owner desires.
    • All Black wiring design further prolongs thief's attempts to disarm.
    • ZID is still armed and zed is still immobilised even if :
    • any ZID wires are cut AND/OR
    • thief tries to bridge the zed's ignition, fuel or starter relays AND/OR
    • jump/roll start or usual hotwiring tricks are tried.
    • Can be located in such a position in the car as to be very frustrating and almost unfeasible for the typical car thief / joyrider to find. Very detailed install instructions with photos etc are included.
    • Even if thief locates the ZID box or wiring, they must disarm it in a specific way or it will not disarm.
    • Has no remotes to lose/break or batteries to go flat.
    • ZID does work with most turbo timers- as soon as the turbo timer switches the engine off, the ZID will be automatically armed. But whilst the turbo timer is running, the zed is not protected.
    • ZID should also work fine with other security devices. Advice on how to easily set this up can be provided. in fact having two flashing LED's will really deter / confuse thieves.
    • Draws almost no power other than the flashing LED (approx 25mA) which can be turned off if desired with a simple option.
    • The ZID is NOT just a 'kill' switch, which are easily found and disarmed!!!
    • More detailed specifications can be provided on an individual basis if required.
    • NB: Please also read the disclaimer at the bottom of the page.

    ZID Options

    • ZID Lite - Lowest cost, easiest and quickest to install
    • ZID STD -Added security due to more complex installation
    • ZID HD - Additional security with 2 points of immobilisation (3+ are possible at the owner's extra expense)
I recommend the ZID STD as the preferred unit, the other two options are also available now as a result of customer requests.

    Pricing

    • ZID LITE $109 Delivered Australia Wide DIY Install ($99 Brisbane Pick-up)
    • ZID STD $129 Delivered Australia Wide DIY Install ($119 Brisbane Pick-up)
    • ZID HD $149 Delivered Australia Wide DIY Install ($139 Brisbane Pick-up)
NB: Pricing has stayed almost the same for nearly 3 years.

    Installation
Each ZID includes access to comprehensive instructions in soft-copy complete with colour photos, suggestions on placement and lots of tips to install it yourself. Additional phone support as required.

    • Skill level required: Connecting / spicing into automotive wiring, soldering skills, following simple wiring diagrams, routing of wires, removal and refit of several interior panels.
    • The installer will require basic ability to make wiring connections. Should you use a professional security system installer it is imperative that you request they follow the unique install instructions. Be wary of any installer who believes that the instructions provided are overly elaborate and unnecessary. (They were designed like that ON PURPOSE!)
    • Tools required: Basic screwdrivers and spanners, quality soldering iron and solder, wire cutters, quality electrical adhesive tape, 6MM drill. Access to Service Manual if required.
    • Time required:
    • ZID LITE- Approx 1-1.5 hours
    • ZID STD - 3 - 4+ hours for a proper job (remember the harder it is for you to install, the harder it also is for a thief to find and bypass).
    • ZID HD- 4-5+ hours
    • Brisbane and surrounds zedders: I can install your ZID at an extra charge.
    • Ongoing email/phone support is provided, if you require any assistance.

    Ordering and Delivery
    • General questions can be posted to this thread or via email/PM.
Questions pertaining to how the ZID is designed and installed will not be answered on a public forum and can be directed to me via email/PM.
If we don't know each other, I will require your forum username & email address also before I will provide sensitive technical information.
This is purely for security reasons and offering existing and future ZID owners added privacy.

    Confirmed Orders
Please email me ONLY at [IMG]
Payments: EFT, cheque or cash in person (Brisbane only- don't send cash in the mail!) EFT bank details will be provided by reply email.

    Legal Mumbo-Jumbo Disclaimer
    • No warranties/guarantees are offered should your zed still be stolen with a ZID installed.
    • The ZID is not yet recognised by insurance companies as a valid anti-theft device and for this reason, it is still recommended to also install a commercially available name brand alarm/immobiliser approved by your insurer for primary security.
    • Having said all that, the fact is thieves can bypass a typical name-brand alarm and / or a generic kill switch in less than sixty seconds or just tow your zed away so even expensive systems can be bypassed. The ZID will offer you realistic protection due to the fact that it is self arming (no need to remember to turn it on -just remove the ignition key!), can be located in various places in the zed (which adds to the time taken to locate for a thief), is all black wiring (which makes bypassing difficult even if a thief accidentally finds a ZID wire) and is an uncommon type of immobilisation (which means it is a new style of system a thief has to learn and bypass) ...
    • The bottom line: Professional thieves who want YOUR car will get it regardless of what deterrent you use.
Evidence of ANY system (flashing LED etc) will deter probably 99% of joy-riders and most thieves looking for an easy target.

I'd be interested in something like this. I'm currently installing my alarm so it's a perfect time. Do you know if it would work correctly with a US model?

Please PM me some more information. Very interested.

Apart from the info in the 1st thread and the info in the link, There's not much more I will provide publically for obvious reasons.

The ZID will work with any other alarm, however it will have to be set up in a certain manner to do so. PM me the zed circuits your current alarm immobilises and the location of the wire cuts, so I can design some sort of unique instructions for you.

I have the standard immobilser that j-specs are given...you know the universal one? Anyways, this product of your sounds like its of far better quality and reliability (and must raise an tolerable revenue you genius :D) but i have a few questions before i buy...

    > Ease of installation - i know it comes with instructions and pictures...but i get week-long mondayitis sometimes...just wanna be assured its not rocket science to install.

    > Flashing Red Light - Can that be installed whereever, or is that just a dash light only?

Cheers, and bloody good work. Go get it patented before some asshole copies and undercuts you tho :D

    J-specs don't have a standard immobiliser unfortunately

Sure, but I dispute the genius reference (more obsession)

Not hard. But you do need t know how to make wiring connections (soldering) but if you absolutely must, you can use crimp style connectors. Also removing interior panels. It is a good several hours solid work. But consider that the harder you make it for a thief, the better chance it will still be there each morning... The whole premise of the ZID is unique and difficult to locate wiring and box. You can get an alarm installer to do it for you but it would be expensive.

Sure. Anywhere you like. I give several mounting location suggestions from on the steering column, to the dash surrounds or even in the instrument cluster for a factory look.

. LOL. Its not rocket-science. The concept and parts design is extremely simple, anyone with electrical nouse could design it themselves. Its the zed specific installation instructions that are where the R & D hours have been spent. Its not a profit-building exercise at these prices. Just one way I can keep contributing to the zed community.

Mark, given that all my interior is out, and I am fine with soldering, what kind of time frame do you think I would be looking at for the ZID HD? I'm pretty excited to have an Aus only item, because that means thieves won't know what the hell happened if they try anything. They'll have the ZID and the aftermarket alarm to deal with.

Hey mate, just read on your website about upgrading the PTU... how will this help my 300zx? Thanks, PBB

Off topic to this thread but upgrading to a series 2 PTU will eliminate the eventual failure of the series 1 PTU. Also reports that S2 PTU gives out a cleaner spark but may be anecdotal.

2nd Hand: Contact member Heavytrevy. Otherwise search FS ZR forum. New you can get from Cazracing.com.au, conceptzperformance.com. Best to get the PTU hard wired into the loom but if you are not "solder-savvy" you can get an adapter kit.
