I need a heater core asap to relpace my old one which i have bypassed for the passed year. Im in Sydney NSW atm. Also can you please let me know if replacement of the heater core is easier if the engine it out. cheers guys
There's one in the For Sale section at the moment. http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1007549
This was a group buy that ended some time ago now, but is good for parts reference. http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=288634&highlight=heater+core+group This company still has them available. Also having the engine out isnt really the problem. Make it easier to take the hoses off i guess but the main shitty part of the job is taking the dash out and replacing...takes so long the first time. (the second you know where all the bolts are) hope that helps.
Some years ago I bought an aftermarket one from John at UAS, not sure if he can still get them. Required a little modification to the heater box, but was a damn sight cheaper than the OEM one and better quality.
Philip Radiator Service in ACT are the best place to obtain a replacement(it is a 1994 Mitsubishi Mirage heater core and will cost you about $180). There is absolutely no need to modify this unit in any way, it's a perfect fit. As already stated, engine in or out will make no difference whatsoever(all your woes are under the dash).
Llloyd .. I think that they may have changed their name ... and possibly now trade as "AUTO HEAT" as per the last group buy ....
I think you may be right Baz(if I do a Google search under Philip Radiator Service it comes up as AUTO HEAT). You'd think a guy from the ACT would know this stuff and not need to come on here to ask this question, wouldn't you?:zlove::zlove::zlove::rofl:
Auto Heat might be their internet trading name, still in the white pages as Phillip Radiators and on the NatRad web site.
Two part epoxy can be used to repair your old one if its sprung a pin hole leak like mine did a few years ago.
