    hi guys ,

a couple couple of months ago my car was key'd and front bar almost torn apart.

what is the best way of gettin a key job fixed. ive got a circle keyd in the bonnet and a line along the entire right hand side of the car .
would i have to get the whole bonnet resprayed ?

ive gotta quote for a new c1 style front bar fitted and painted for 550 $ what do you guys think of this quote ??

A REALLY, REALLY good bodywork shop could fix the side without respraying the whole car but I'm pretty sure the hood is going to have to be done completely. Sadly most shops are probably going to recommend the car get's a full respray for it to look mint again.

That quote seems VERY steep! The last time I looked into paint prices I could get a full once over fresh lick of paint for around $1,000. That was the stock colour of course, if you have some 50 layer metal flake ricerooni paint job it will be alot more of course.

Ah well that sounds more like it, although why are you wasting money on a new front bar when your car is keyed to shit? lol Or is it just an oem replacement? If so it would be better to go source one yourself from a junk yard and then get someone to paint it and fit it yourself, you'll save alot of coin this way.

You'll pay top dollar letting a body shop get a bumper for you is what I meant, go hunt around a junk yard...

    Full Respray...

My guess is most places will suggest a full respray because they wont want to muck around touching up a key line. Personally I would want a full respray anyway.

Rather than just getting the panels that were affected painted, you should try to save up and get the rest of the car painted while you're at it. That way you wont have the problem of paint not quite matching.

I'm assuming the new front bar is fibreglass. Somewhere between $350 and $550 is about right for fitting and painting. It might need some prep work to get it to look right and thats why they quoted you on the high side.

Do a bit of shopping around though...get a few more quotes to compare. :)

    Cheers
    Rob.
