After replacing spark plugs, changing fuel filter, changing fuel pump and checking PTU AND adding injector clean i started my zed and got her to operating temperature with a very unstable irratic idle I took her for a drive to see if I could blow the crap out of her. NO LUCK. She ran like a complete dog, kept turning off, blowing shitloads of black smoke and SPITTING FLAMES as the fuel was unburnt. You think I need a professional injector clean? Maybe the fuel pressure regulator is clogged? I honestly have no idea what to do now and I know if I take it to a mechanic he's going to try and rort me. Any help will be very appreciated.
Also a big thankyou to Brad (DUB) and John Penlington (UAS) for all their help they've given me thus far.

parker Been around for a bit

    I dunno man

Sounds a bit like my car! Hope you get it sorted. Don't let it get you down, just remember that they are great cars and anything broken can always be fixed.;)

    BlueZ Oldie but a goodie

    Super rich

So I'd be looking at the AFM. Have you checked it or tried replacing with a known good one?
    ConZult? Any clues there?
    See Ya,

Yeah she definitely is running way 2 rich...

but I just don't understand how me running out of fuel has created this effect that's all. Maybe I need to somehow reset the ECU or something. I done an ecu diagnostic and it came up with Fuel Temp Sensor. Will run another one as I cleaned all the electrical contacts and see what it comes up with again. Am hoping to get a conzult to test her. Anyone anywhere near newcastle have a conzult I could use please? I wish she could be driven to sydney to get her tested there... Anyone have any other ideas guys?

    Thanks again

When I did work on my car

I connected the wrong vac lines to the nipple on the Balance tube that connects to the FPR, I connected it with the EGR solenoid vac line, and it ran exactly like your describing.

    Oh Zonny

I miss you daily phone calls. Sounds like you may have an air leak in your intake system somewhere?

    as per JP's reply

Just a guess but did you put the balance bar back on properly (if you took it off that is). You know the one at the back of the engine ontop of the intake manifold. Had similar sort of drama one day because the rubber o rings werent seated properly.

Sounds like Mine (Please read Unique)

constantly does this then clears out then comes back, since the drags the other night it won't clear though. Hey If you read this John (UNIQUE) can water run back into my engine even if it is not running , that is if it has a blown head gasket??:(:(

OK you guys have lead me to something...

The balance pipe on top has 1 bolt on the left side towards the front of the car that has stripped off and now cannot be closed without it being re-thread. The guys that put the engine back in have overtightened it or something. Also, does anyone have a pic of which hoses connect to what on-top of the balance pipe? Top left side is where I could've stuffed up upon putting balance pipe back on, although i'm pretty sure its coz of this bolt not holding it down properly. At idle it wasn't 2 bad
but as soon as it was under load (sucking more air) the leak would've become much more apparent. Thanks heaps guys.
Lol I bet you miss my phone calls Uncle John. I'll call you tommorow to organise when the zed can go down to your workshop so I can get some QUALITY work done...

    John

P.S $99 an hour may be slightly steep, but it's worth the quality work and not having to worry about people trying to rip you off or having to take your car back. When my car leaves UAS it never has to go back because of shonky worksmanship, that's why us NSW people pay what we do to quality workshops like UAS.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by the L side , I assume you mean the

passengers side. On that side there is 2 bolts and 1 stud (most fwd one) The bolts if stripped will need a hellicoil fitted to repair the thread but if its the stud you can use a vise-grip and remove it yourself and get a replacement one from SuperCheap.

But if that is where you have a leak it will certainly cause the ruff running ....when you have vaccuum (idle and low rpm) it will probably seal okay and therefore idle reasonably well but when you are running boost you will be losing air from there but the computer is measuring upstream of that leak and supplying fuel to match the mass airflow so she will be pumping the fuel through the injectors to match an airflow that is diminished somewhat .....effect is an over-rich mixture.

I had that pipe off once and got called away and came back to the job and forgot to tighten up the 2 on the drivers side:unsure: For the next hour I was tearing my hair trying to work out what was wrong with it. The nuts were finger tight but loose enough to cause it to run roughly.

Hope this helps regards John

    Hey John...

Sorry for not specifying I mean't driver side where there are only two. THe front stud has come out of the actually block where it was fixed in. I'm going to take her back to the mechanics and insist they fix it. Thanks heaps for your help guys...

    Well Zonny

I am not surprised. We are $98 an hour and Zonny if you make it down we will give you the keen but struggling uni student price and when you are going forwards and moding your car and on your feet will hit you hard. Yes Zonny might be best to get workshop to correct what they did or not done. Also few workshops give advice as much and as often as I do. We are an advisory centre for imports which unfortunatley does not pay. Gets a bit out of hand when workshops call us wanting to know torque settings etc or people buy products from internet based businesses and get no back up and need instructions etc. Like me buying a computer on line then calling the local computer shop for advice, not likely. For customers like Zonny no probs as long as not too often.

We are working on a service for customers with the new technology with phones now, that if you hold them close enough to the car we can diagnose. Especially if you rev them. Did you here that noise what's that. Hey Zonny? We are waiting for the next generation of phones to come that will also fix the car but the zed model needs much more soft ware.

Gene yes possible if big leak but usually needs pressure with motor running. Is there coolant leaking on the ground or? Another air leak or coil or injefctor plug gone funny but thought we changed these. Best to call me.

Damn was I PISSED specially when I found out it was MY FAULT. Zonny hope you have some luck man with the mechanics and they sort out your car man. Keep cruisin
