Does anyone know if the headrest in the zed seats can be removed? I want to customise mine a little with extra height and padding in case of a rear ender.

I checked Recaros at Auto Salon and they wanted $5000, egads!

Cheers and thanks for any info.

    Yes they can be removed.

Be extremely careful about re-designing the shape/size of your headrest, they are anotomically designed to provide the optimum support in an accident.
Too much, too little or wrongly shaped padding, can be more dangerous than advantageous.

I guess that is the full leather electric option Recaro?

One drive with good aftermarket seats and you'll never want to go back.

If you were interested in just buying a set of

aftermarket seats, one of the car magazines recently did a few page listing of different seats, pricing, and what standards they meet (ADR, Cams etc). If your interested I can go back and find which mag it was? (Either Speed or 2DMax, either last edition, or one before).

If you want me to, also send an email as I don't get on the forum as much as I would like any more. Send email to mark.picker 'at' bigpond.com (just replace the 'at'. Don't want any search spiders grabbing my email address for spam)

I would agree with Chilli about making changes to the headrest of existing seats. (But then again I would agree with him, no one wants to disagree and get that monkey on your back.... Hi Chilli :) )

As a guide, I had my other Zed retrimmed (2 seater, plus all the doors, centre console, glovebox etc) in a black/red/gray velour (spelling?) which was around $50 to $60 pm. Had the base of the seats repadded and did have those filled out a little more than standard, plus replaced padding on edge of seat (around the hip area). All up it was either $900 or $980. Chilli also had his 2+2 retrimmed by the same guy (here in Dubbo), so he may be able to tell you price on a 4 seater.

    Hope that helps.

    Cheers

Thanks Mark and Chili. I would like the Recaros but 5k!@##$@#!

The zed seats are very comfortable its just that as I sit higher (read as lots of bum padding)and drive in a fairly reclined manner I just feel uneasy about no neck support.

    Thanks for the feedback guys
    Cheers
