I was just breezing through the carsales site, and im very pleased to see the value of the Z rapidly rising! Lots of cars are priced at 15K and over ! Keep it up boys !
A car is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. IMHO 15k for a 17 year old car with unknown mechanical history is too much. I've seen a stock AUS Spec 94 or 95 model for 20k on carsales. Its been there for ages, I think the guy is dreaming but good luck to him. If you want a good guide to the value of our cars, check out the auction prices in Japan. What really gets me are the people selling their 2 year old cars for 2-3k less than a brand new one. hahaha...
Hopefully with the new P-plater restrictions on vehicles and new fines etc there might be an increase in the prices of the NA's too.
well after they cant get their turbo skylines or 180's anymore they will prob get na ones. They will then see how quick the NA zed's actualyl are and start buying them forcing prices up. kinda like drugs, its all about supply and demand. The more people want them, the higher the prices go.
Unfortunatly yes - please dont hit me! It wont be a desperate sale, i want to get a boat sometime in the future so the Zed will have to go and be replaced with a forester or freelander or something like that... give it a coupe of years and i'l get another
15k is to much for a 17yearold car that cost 100 000 brand new? people are paying it so that seems to disagree with what you say. 300s are a great type of car and have stacks of potential so i think its great. maybe all the crappy ones just got sold off
i had a peak thru the office's copy of the red book the other day and the zed was in there, aust delivered and it wasnt even close to $50,000 let alone $100,000.... that big price might of been for the TT jap import, but my bet was that it had all the options available - and from what ive seen around, most zed's dont have half the options that they couldve had.
lol like what? no leather interior :O omgosh! pov!!!! i think after 1990 japs discontinued the manual climate controll so it cant be that? what some of them dont have electric passenger seats?
yep, chris .. it's all about the uppers and downers ... .. how come they don't have landers .... ??? ..

I agree .... a car is only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it. Also the desperation of the seller can also be a determining factor in the final price ..... I think I've posted a number of times when the subject of ZX prices comes up is that a good original (as possible) car will always fetch a premium on the used car market. A good clean JSpec or AusSpec will hold its value in the long term.:zlove: My view is that the longer you hang on to your Zed and keep it excellent condition .... the more it will be worth in the long term ....
Most sellers are pricing their ZEDS high..especially those ZEDS(which are not well looked after)..reason..it takes weeks for them to sell..so you start at 14K to 15K..keep dropping price every 2weeks. .eventually...they get the price $9K-10$K (which is high for not so mechanically good ZED)...
meh im not complaining. if they sell shit zeds for 15k or so... imagine what all the good zeds will be worth
Not too surprising how low costs can be when the market's top-heavy with poor examples of our beautiful machines. According to Wikipedia, when you're collecting cars, the car should be at least 20 years old. This seems to be the time when the value of the car "bottoms out". In 5 years (max), the amount of 300ZX's for sale should be going down, as damaged/written off/unsellable examples are scrapped for their parts, which are more likely to be successfully sold then a complete unit that's been treated like crap, or sold to be used purely for parts in assembling a sweet Z. This will give a wide range for the value of a 300ZX, as the low priced ones are for parts/projects while the higher end are the well cared for and (usually) stock examples. The 'true value' of a reasonably cared for 300ZX will most likely increase, or at least hold steady in that time. Then in 7 years, the 1989 Z32 300ZX's will become Antique Vehicles! From Wikipedia: An antique car is generally defined as a car over 25 years of age, this being the definition used by the Antique Automobile Club of America and many other organizations worldwide. However, the legal definition for the purpose of antique vehicle registration varies widely. The term classic car is often used synonymously with antique car, but the formal definition[citation needed] of that term has it as applying only to certain specific high-quality vehicles from the pre-World War II era. 25 years is about double the design life of modern cars and an even greater increment on those cars now 25 years old; therefore, a car that's reached 25 is a rare survivor, and probably not economic to maintain as regular transportation. So hold on to a 300ZX if you love 'em, treat them right and look forward to being able to drive one of the hottest antique cars around! If your car is in good condition, you get to experience the admiration of fellow enthusiasts and the unbelieving exclamations from others who can't believe your car is 18 years old and still looks so good.
