Could be a number of things.....

if you use search you will be able to start a process of elimination to isolate your problem as well as do some preventative maintenance to stop future problems occuring.

If you turn the potentiometer (the little screw on the side of the ecu) fully to the left, then fully to the right the red light will flash you the error codes

If the red light fails to flash, check your ecu harness connector. If the bolt is not fully done up you can have a bad connection

harness connector is all good.. red light still fails to flash so no response from ecu

While a buggered ecu isn't out of the question, I'd be more inclined to think the loom may be the culprit. ECU's generally just don't die. Try switching it over for known working one, TT or NA, to see if you can get the led to flash. The car should start either ecu, just don't drive it.

i can get my hands on a tt ecu today so ill plug it in and see if she starts... only turning over at this point n wont grab..

Check connectors on the ECU (push hard all the way along - it's a long connector).

If that doesn't work - try the paperclip in the consult plug (per tech article) and see if that works for codes (in case potentiometer isn't working as expected)

    ECU Diagnostic (I used paperclip)
Ignition on - short for 3 full seconds - remove - wait around 5-10 seconds for codes.

    Good luck.

exactly what ive just been through....

my problems were the same, and to fix it i replaced plugs, replaced sereis 1 ptu with a series 2 and put a new battery in.....
run your error codes if you havent already....just something to note though, when i first ran error codes it came up all clean no errors, but a few days later it started giving the ptu error code??? so dont always just assume that it will be all good because you did the codes a couple of days before!!!
