As SA zedders know, Peter's car was blowing a hell of a lot of smoke on the first cruise of the year down to Victor Harbour.
Most people who saw it thought it was the turbos going - and you were all right.
Unfortunately, the turbos weren't the only thing on the way out.
One day when Pete came to pick me up from work, his car wouldn't start - the starter motor had gone. When he had it taken to Elizabeth Auto Electrics to have it fixed, he had them do a compression test on the cylinders. It returned 100 psi on the four cylinders the guy could reach - :`(
Pete took the car to Bill Towler's on Waterloo Corner road, and had them pull apart the block, but not before they did a dyno run (to show the difference between the dying engine and the new one). It pulled 213.6hp with little compression, one seized turbo and one turbo spitting oil.
There was also a split in some of the piping somewhere, which let in lots of sand and dust, so the engine was pretty much sandblasted from the inside.
So, Sparky's just sitting up at the workshop right now, waiting for his new engine to have his reconditioned turbos go on, so he can finally be a healthy zed.
The new engine and recon turbos should be in sometime in the next week - we're looking forward to the next cruise :D
And let this be a lesson to prospective zed buyers - if it seems too good to be true, it probably is :-Z By the way, the pics from the latest cruise are great, they make me jealous :p-Erin
(almost forgot - I can drive the zed now >D<)

    Egg ....

    Bad luck.

Hope he did all the rubber hoses down the back of the engine too. And maybe pull the plennum and catch up on cruddy injectors and replace or block throttle body warmer.
But definately the hard to reach hoses that literally need a gearbox drop to replace.
And for those that are interested... you can get T25 centres pretty easy now, why rebuild when you can simply take off the housing and put a brand new centre in for about $1,000 for both... lil extra with 360 thrust bearings.
Anyways, hope it comes together nicely.
