I really liked the Nismo carbon dash you made. So JDM...

I guess I'm sort of the same, but for TommyKaira. I just like them. But they've done some awful things to some awful cars :\
At least the TK Z stuff is rare and sought after. Some of the Veilside stuff is more than questionable...

Erik I have a 320km/hr cluster that has no badges or anything & looks like a factory option...plus it's NA spec so without the TT boost gauge which was exactly the way I prefer it. I bought the cluster from Japan but the back of it was different to my stock cluster, so I figured it was either from a later model zed or that it was from another at that had an exact looking cluster...either way, I just moved the gauges from the other cluster to my stock cluster & got it calibrated & works a treat. I'm yet to see a NA spec speedo which goes over 300km/hr except for mine...not that my zed will ever get to those speeds lol

Nice. Would be interesting to know if it was a factory option or not.

Yeah the biggest NA one I have seen is the Impul 300km/hr one.

I'll have a TK Cluster in my possession soon and the one thing that annoys me about it is the fact that it has the boost gauge on it. I really wish it didn't though at least it leaves it open for a possible TT conversion if I ever decide I want to go down that path.

Erik I would definitely say it would have to be a factory option for either the zed or for another car as the cluster I got it from looked completely stock & it looked exactly like my stock cluster, however I only realised the back plugs were in different spots to my stock cluster, hence why I swapped it all over.

The reason why I wanted a NA spec cluster was because I've always heard that the stoc boost gauge is quite inaccurate & fails sometimes, so I might as well put an aftermarket boost gauge in the zed when I go TT rather than have a gauge that just sits in the cluster doing nothing.

The only main difference I can see with all the different optioned cluster is the style the numbers are written in, the increment of the speed & the badging...the TK cluster does look nice being in red, however I have red led's in my cluster & it looks the same to me & looks completely stock without any badging...just a personal preference

It sounds like you bought a series 4 TT cluster with aftermarket gauge

Rob when you say series 4, you mean 2k cluster? If so, no it's not as I've seen Adam's 2k cluster & from the pics that Erik posted up in the original post , the gauges are white in colour compared to every other stock cluster. As for being an aftermarket gauge, I disagree as the backing looked exactly the same as my stock cluster except for the speedo going to 320 km/hr...plus it looks exactly like an oem speedo. I would put up a pic for everybody to see, but I don't have access to a computer as I'm using my fone.

Actually, come to think of it, did they get rid of the boost gauge in some later series cars? It sounds familiar but i could be thinking of something else as this

has the boost gauge. Maybe it was removed on the pre 2k gauges and brought back? it sounds familiar which is why I'm bringing it up now.

EDIT: Just confirmed that the Series 4 TT cars had the boost gauge removed.

Series 1-3 is 1989-1997 manufacture Series 4 1998 on manufacture -at least according to Nissan parts.

Where'd you get that list Eric?

That's a good resource cheers. So series 4 is black gauges with no boost gauge and then white gauges with boost gauge back in for series 6

Yeah, it looks like it. It was years ago I heard about it being said and I only remember it because I thought it was a weird thing to do. Maybe it was because they were inaccurate and then they fixed it with the series 6 cars.

While all either of us can do is speculate it is way more likely to be modified than the only OEM NA 320k speedo in the world ever

Yes Nissan did remove the boost gauge from the series IV - series V Z32 TT's and then broke the boost gauge back for the series VI models.

According to my records, all instrument clusters from 92/08 (Series II) to 2000/08 (Series VI) are all the same and all of the 2000spec white/gold instrument gauges (Speedo, tacho etc.) can be installed into any pre 2000spec instrument cluster with standard black gauges including the boost gauge.

Also regarding the 300kmph factory speedo, I have never seen or heard of a factory optioned 300kmph. I can not confirm there is or isnt so its quite possible their might have been, but In my opinion Nissan never made a 300kmph speedo and any that may exist I would believe to be aftermarket. But whether it is or isn't as long as the speedo gauge backing is the exact same texture and colour as the other OEM guages then who really cares.

this is the only none listed instrument gauge I have in my photos archive not yet listed.

tassuperkart Its a lie I tell you!

    Gents
Slightly off topic but relevant. Has anybody been able to do something with the calibration of the stock water temp guage without resorting to fitting something else into the hole?
Historically, these things are arse and do little more than indicate cold or hot.

Ive had 2 different clusters in mine and the water guage reads with the same behaviour on both except the one I have now just sits a poofteenth higher on the scale.

Strangely, the fuel guages read more believably in all cars.
OK its a different kind of sender to guage...but, its stil believable!

Any thoughts/workaround that doesn't include aftermarket guages (I already have one)?
