Thanks for the recent feedback on my proposed future engine rebuild in 2013.

For the proposed repaint in 2013 I've decided to either keep the Z black or go Pearl White or if that proves to expensive just white. I would rather go back to a white / pearl white Z.
I'm a bit sick of black always showing up dirt and especially light stratches. My old NA was Pearl white and I loved the colour.

Before buying my Black Z I was about 1 week away from buying a Pearl white TT Z from WA late in 2008. In hindsight I wish I had bought that Pearl white in WA now. I was too worried about it getting damaged in transit between WA and Tas because the transport company would not accept liability because the White Z was low.

Is it worth repainting Black to white (a darker colour to a lighter colour )
This is not a debate between black or white or any other colour so if you could please save comments on your ' preferred' Z colour for other postings.

My question is specifically aimed at repainting a dark coloured Z to a lighter colour!
I think that Sim300 Jono has done a Black Z to white but not sure? Anyone else taken a Z from the dark side to the light side :)

    Cheers, all.
    Pete

Mine was sprayed in Jap land before importing. I love the colour. It's not pearl, but it isn't bright white either but a slight off white (which I've been told gives it class). The engine bay was left black, which actually looks better in my opinion.

As the king of pop said, it doesn't matter if you're black or white (but it obviously did to him ;))

    Thanks Jono

I forgot to mention the engine bay.

I was thinking a black engine bay would look ok on a white Z glad you confirmed this :zlove:

It doesn't even stand out as being a different colour & actually looks cleaner if you ask me.

would cost a little more as most panel beaters would want to do a bare metal respray as they can charge you more..

would be looking at over 5k for a cheap job..

i was thinking of buying a black zed and keeping the engine bay black and respraying the outside of it white..

but than i thought... i can buy any colour car and respray the engine bay black and than respray the car white

its going to be just like any other repaint in a differnt colour but you dont have to do the engine bay as black just looks rite in there anyway . when ive finished my engine conversion im just going to paint the engine bay black again , i think white would get dirty way to easy

first of all, only you can decide if its worth it as your paying for it. A flat white in direct gloss, say in D700 PPG will be alot cheaper than a white pearl.

It will be a 3 layer pearl which means the white basecoat goes down, then your pearl layer, then your clear, so takes more time and effort.

3 layer pearls are hard to spot up as well if you damage a panel, Its not easy to blend out pearls.
