    Hi
Drove round in the morning a few days ago - no problems. Came home, had lunch and about 3pm wanted to drive Z.
I have a Mongoose m80 alarm fitted. Alarm won't de-activate. I open door with key and pop bonnet to turn off alarm horn.
I thought that battery was flat but it was fully charged.
No interior lights or radio. Starter motor does not move.
Full voltage at battery and at fuse block in front of driver in engine bay. Alarm appears to be getting power.

Maybe the alarm immobiliser circuits are still on. I tried my spare alarm remote - no change. The alarm doesn't show any sign of recognising either remote. I've checked all fuses in engine bay and for the alarm.
The only problem before this was a sometimes noisy starter motor when hitting the ring gear.

I'm stumped! Any suggestions welcome. I'm sufferring withdrawal symptoms.

    hmmm no power to cab....

sounds like an engine out problem

Sorry, Loud'n'Proud, but I won't increase your 'thanked' countfor that advice. Seems a tad excessive at this stage. However, I do have the alarm all exposed in the cab so I might just have to to remove all the alarm connections. If I do then I'll thank you

it is strange but, cab lights etc should still work, do head lights work?

how hard core is the alarm? some dont let you do anything if its connected, others will still allow acc and radio on but just cuts out the starter motor

still think its the S1 PTU issue

Neither external or internal lights work. I have a series 2 ptu.
Normally you don't enter the car without disabling the alarm so I can't say whether it allows lights radio etc. If I turn off alarm and then sit in the car, I have radio etc but if I sit there for more than 30 secs the immobiliser will arm and complain if I then try to start without disarming again.

hmmm not a PTU issue then, maybe a coil pack has gone..

sounds like a major plug is disconnected, should be large plug up near the brake booster that comes from the batt to cab

Is that large plug near the brake booster in the engine bay or in the cab? There is a fuse block near the booster in the engine bay. The end 'fuse'?? is a link to disable the power I think and there is power there.

    in the engine bay.

basically follow the +ve cable from battery accross the engine bay and you will find it...

very odd that it would come out like that, but that is your main power cable from battery to the chassis harness and goes straight to your ignition barrel..

wait... wtf? im like... actually helping someone!

still think it could be a flat rear tyre though... which sadly is an engine pull fix

Try replacing the starter motor. i had a tx3 turbo that did the same thing with no dash lights, replaced the starter motor and away i went.

$20 says thats not the issue.... never seen that on a zed unless the starter is constantly shorting out which would make shit smoke lol

I have the same m80 and the exact same thing happened to me last night. Turned the key, lights on the dash came on for a second then all went out, suddenly had zero power to anything including headlights, just as if the battery went flat but hadn't. Thinking it was my recently installed s2 ptu that screwed things up (still likely) but I pulled the engine (whatever it is) fuse out which hadn't blown but once I put it back in suddenly everything had power again. The fuse located down near the passengers headlight.

OK. After some prodding around, wiggling wires and fuses, noticed that I had parking lights. Checked and found that power is back. Obviously a loose connection, I'll look closer at the battery positive connection when there is more time on the weekend.

One thing that I noticed though. When I had the alarm fitted 4 years ago, the installer obviously found it too difficult to replace all the under dash heater ducting, there was a 100mm gap. I think I know why they went out of business!

I'm now looking for the under dash heater ducting on the driver's side.

Thanks to Loud'n'Proud, 89ttzed and Mclovin for taking the time to help.
