i have read it in the past and cannot find it, but Z's that have the yellow vs black capped brake booster are better or worse.

I know the earlier ones are black on all the autos and most turbo manuals have yellow, but why are some black also??

Im sure i read the difference on the forum somewhere!

    experts help!
    cheers :zlove:

I presume you are referring to the master cylinder cap.....

to my knowledge there is no difference between the master cylinders other than the fact that (for what reason I don't know) autos seem to be fitted with a yellow lid and manuals a black.

With the number of auto to manual conversions and m/c's swapped around over the years it's likely this rule no longer applies.

    The way I understand it............>>

Car makers have over the last 10 years or so started to color code things under the bonnet that owners "should" keep an eye on. Look under the bonnet of any new Ford or Holden and you will find the dipsticks and oil fill cap coded yellow. I beleive the color difference is for that reason. Late model Zed oil caps have the little writing in yellow and the late model fuse box cover is yellow.

Just my 2.2 (adjusted for GST) cents.

    To go a step further...

With a Subaru Impreza WRX, everything under the bonnet that is yellow you can touch (ie water, oil, etc); touch anything that isn't yellow and you can potentially void your warranty!
