    DriftZ has landed!!!

DriftZ finally turned up at Barbagallo at 5.00pm Sydney time. It has been unloaded, and now (4.15pm WA time) Tom and the boys are working their magic fitting the new 1 piece shaft.

Practice and qualifying is tomorrow (Saturday) as well as the Super Drift eliminations. Sunday is the Drift Australia Championship and hopefully the DriftZ and Scotty will do us proud.

    Cheers
    Greg

Confirmation that the Sureflow Drift Zed has landed on WA soil and is straight back under the spanners.... again!

Here are a selection of the pics I took today after about 6pm (about 2 hours after it arrived on the trailer)

Tom (PZP) and Scotty (Zweet)got right into it trying to install the one piece tailshaft. Came up against a brick wall when they found the original bolts were too long and they needed shorter high tensile ones (with cap heads) While Tom removed the original bolts Scotty went off to buy new ones but wasn't able to find any with Cap heads so we are left to find some tomorrow. I've got the early morning task of seeing if I can get some bolts from the local bolt shop then drop them off to the track pronto!!!

Tom pretty much was under the car for the 1st 2 hours I was there poor bugger.

It's a pain in the ass when a simple task such as this does not go to plan... if only the bastards who sent the driveshaft sent the bolts that go with it... so much for a bolt on application!

I was quite disappointed that we didn't get to install the driveshaft today, not to worry, i've got a backup one piece to install tomorrow morning...

Hope to see a load of action photos on the forums in the next couple of days...!!!!

    Yeah we all were.

I even had to go fetch my NISMO 2-WAY LSD. (that I just happen to have sitting around) funny that.

But then to be faced with more brick walls, quite depressing after putting in so much effort.

I am sure some one will do the honors of filling in.

    I need a bunch of beers :)

Things done to the Dift Zed today include>>>
Tom and myself get up early and head off to different locations to get some cap head hi-tensile bolts for the new tailshaft. We both end up in Balcatta with me heading to the place Tom has just bought the parts from. I'd been to 4 places already!
    Head/race to track ;)
    Re-install Tailshaft assembly
    Re-install exhaust system
Scotty takes for drive but we all can immediately hear a loud clunking in the diff, very bad.
Back up on stands, rear wheels off, diagnose problem to be diff for sure.
Decide after Zweet offers full locker for the Zed- legend, but even more so how many 2 way lockers are just laying around ready to be used at the drop of a hat?!? Zweet shoots off to get said diff. (from his place just around the corner -even more luck cos everywhere else is miles away from Waneroo!)
Tom and I take out exhaust (again) and tailshaft (again) and diff.
Zweet comes back with diff. We re-tap the rusted tailshaft flange holes which have severe rust on them. Fill with oil, Remove speed sensors (weren't needed, originals not even connected anyways)
    Re-install diff
    Reinstall tailshaft
    Re-install exhaust
    Put wheels back on.
Scotty gets in and takes her for a spin, big smile on his face!

Zweet, Shaq and myself take off to get best photo points to take pics of the Zed in maiden flight.
Zed does 1 lap then disappears into pits, then comes back out again. Does one more then goes back in again.
We all head back to pits and find the Zed back under the spanner with a high temp problem. While waiting for the motor to cool down Scotty;s Dad REATTACHES the front sway bar links and fixes an oil filter relocation plate leak.
Pull thernostat pipe off and find... NO THERMOSTAT!!!!
On later diagnosis the water pump has been found to be leaking also!

    Enoughs ENOUGH!!!!!

Seriously, if ppl are going to send a car off to be raced you could at least make sure the thing is COMPLETE and at least driving properly. The diff would have been definately known about when driving on the truck it was that bad!!! A simple jack up of the bum and run in 2nd gear is all we needed to do to diagnose it! When the oil got dropped out of it 4 teeth came with it!

Another thing is the fuel lines are just bulging out under pressure. The amount of workshops that have worked on this thing and not put back together a solid package and sent out that half baked PILE OF CRAP to the other side of the country should be ashamed of themselves. Only through the charity of members of THIS FORUM is it even running let alone looking like competing. F#cking amateurs, we should have loaded it straight back on the truck!
