After much nagging by another member I am finally doing a re-build thread. As some members would know I purchased Blipman's old Zed back in 2006 Over the next 8 years i changed a few bits and pieces and it ended up looking like this Anyways onto the Re-build, the start of last year I purchased a newly built complete engine off a fellow member The engine has been built by EPR in the states and came with GT2860rs turbo's, to go with it there was also the Z1 piping kit and the selin dual intake kit. There has been a few delays along the way but the engine is in and should be tuned in the next few weeks hopefully then it will having some new rims and rubber put on. followed by a respray and a change in the bodykit, install of xenon headlights.
Was it sims engine that had the exhaust ports on The head too large. Good to see that it's gone to a good home. Should be 400rwkw capable if done right
Can't wait to see it once it's complete, it will be worth a professional feature for sure. I hope it can be finished by summer time. Intake, not exhaust. Depends on what you mean by too large? If you mean too large for OEM gaskets, then yes.
The latest update is that the new CAS is in so now it runs and the base timing is set. The radiator is back out to fix a small hole in it, interior needs to be put back together and the current plan is it should hopefully get a run in tune done next week. After this long it was so nice to hear it run and to know how close it is to being back up and running. :zlove:
The update for this week is that the radiator is back in with no leaks from that, but there appears to be a leak from the rear main seal and that now needs to be replaced.
Kept having problems with the tires going flat, leak tests wouldn't show up anything and tried different tires, the only thing they could put it down to was the wheels.
how bad is the rear main seal leak ? I mean if you don't have the gearbox and all else on yet then yeah change it. mine has a very VERY light seepage issue .. cant be F'd changing it yet but .
gearbox and everything is back on, after it only running for a short period i was shown where it had leaked on the ground and it was a reasonable size patch of oil, definitely a large enough amount to do it, plus i want it done so everything is 100% when i finally get it back.
of course i'm expecting lots of little issues, but by 100% i mean as good as we can get it, i don't know anytime that a zed has ever been 100% :zlove: there are just problems you know about and problems you don't know about yet.
rear main seal has been replaced along along with the sealant used on the sump, hopefully looking at being run in and tuned next week.
The update for this week is that the car made it's way onto the dyno but the power steering pump start to make some funny noises so they dyno session was halted and current;y waiting on a replacement one and one swapped over they will attempt to try again fingers crossed.
I had a similar issue, mine was a UR pulley we had on that was at high rpm coming off its axis a little throwing belts
Here is a pic of the engine bay as it currently is, the update for this week is that the power steering pump has been replaced, just waiting on a space on the dyno again to get the run in and base tune done.
