Thanks for all the kind words guys!
There are other tools available if anyone needs to do anything to their Z, however the car hoist will probably be full the whole day.

It's going to be hot, there is a fridge full of drinks with plenty of extras, so i'll start the bbq around 2pm.

Also, the diff I ordered hasn't come in, so I'm currently with a TT subframe/diff for now, does anyone have a TT rear part of a driveshaft they can bring along?

i can get one from my manual conversion but its at my mates about 80kms out of my way (koo wee rup i'm in doveton) i think its for a 2+0 and i have a 2+2 so i wasnt going to use the rear just the front half... if that helps i could bring it along

Thanks grub, but I think the driveshaft is different between 2+0 and 2+2, we will see how we go today first :D

    Hey Guys, just another update.

Got the whole suspension done, new swaybars, raised the car for RWC, HICAS lockout installed, extended the steering rack and replaced with new tie-rods.

One thing I realised that we have missing is the Clutch Master Cylinder, does ANYONE has one for an NA? Or does a TT one fit with the booster attached?
Kinda Seriously need this to get the car up on the road!

Also, starting time for tomorrow is 2pm, I'll be there around then, so don't come in around 12pm if you were planning on it.

    Cheers Guys,

    Aidan

Also, does anyone have any engine slings which can hold the engine and gearbox? We have tranny jacks, but are currently using a seatbelt to hold the engine on the hoist :p.

I believe they are still working.
I had to leave to get home in time for home duties. I felt really bad that I had to go.

Also, the wife found my keys (both sets), the E-Vade's rego papers, my mobile, two screw drivers from my tool kit, a roll of tape, a half eaten apple, very ripe cheese stick, and the cheque book all shoved in the lovely daugther's scooter. The smell made her look, and I suspect it will take a great deal of effort to jam them in, and I am not sure what she was up to but some of that suff could have ended very badly.

Dotdotdot Thanks for letting me have a play, sorry I took over a little can't help myself.
Simon the shed owner is a brillant guy, with a fantastic idea I might copy.

They were going strong when I had to leave, engine was in place with the engine and gearbox mounts bolted in.

Good job to Peta for finding the keys and such, good thing the cheese went eith them.

Great to hear I felt really bad when I left. I am sure they will have the car at least movable.

PS: Our house smells of rotten cheese, as does my phone :(.

Next time you lose something just give your daughter something smelly and that should at least lead you to the lost stuff.

We ended up dropping the crossmember a bit and everything slid in place.

That was so strange. It should have slide right in. But good to go it is in there now.

How did you guys end up going? Late finish?

Here's a picture of the clutch pedal assembly (NA one) for you, you've definitely got 2 brake pedals there.

Very late finish, got out around midnight or so.
Thanks for all the help, I'll be posting pictures down the track once i find the camera.

Unfortunately we didn't entirely finish the car, the engine and gearbox are in, however there are two looms, so a plenum pull is required before I can hook up everything to get the engine running.

I'm going to need a drive-shaft made up to bolt on the TT rear end and the NA gearbox.
Gonna have to find a clutch pedal off a wreck or off someone I know.

Everything that wasn't installed fit into the car, I've never seen a 300zx with so much stuff in it, literally 4 boxes of screws and spare parts, a whole exhaust system, interior trim lying everywhere haha.

If I can find another workshop to have a few things done, I might make a repeat tech day :D.

I'll make a post event thread once I sort everything out

What you got done in a weekend was an absolute credit to you. I'll ensure I make it to the next one. With my alignment gear.

Didn't get the plenum pull done? That's a shame, oh well, you seem to have a much better idea of everything you need to get it sorted now so I think once you get that all together you'll be fine. Hard to get much done when you keep finding you're missing stuff.

Plenum pull is not nearly as daunting as it seems once you get started. print out the tech article and once you have it with you in the engine bay it all makes sense.

Not sure how I'll be for free time but if you're doing another one in the same spot it's close to me so I'll try to come down to at least give you a hand getting started.
