Did a little service on my Z on the weekend when I came across the clutch fluid level - dry. Not low, but DRY! Needless to say I filled it up and blead the clutch - if this had been going on for sometime what type of damage may I have done?

    I would think....

that "empty" would mean you have a leak somewhere??? Dont know about damage though, sorry.

    No damage........>>

...there would still have to be a small amount of fluid in the line and the master cylinder, or the post would have read...HELP, NO CLUTCH. However, check the slave cylinder, to see if it is leaking, if it is, then it is a minor, not very expensive fix. If however it is not leaking, then the probable cause is a very worn clutch. As the clutch wears, the slave cylinder self adjusts, to keep the right pressure on the throw out lever, which has the effect of lowering the fluid in the master resevior. So perhaps you have a leak (cheap) or your clutch is on its way out (expensive). Been there, except mine was worn slave cylinder. GT
