this ones for all the knockers/critics & for all those who have thought about it & havent had a go.
A friend & i got into it this morning (someone who has mild mech skills like myself) & in just under 6hrs we had both the auto on the deck & the engine sittin on the floor next to my Zed.
If anyone is comtiplating having a go, i have to recommend the engine removal tech on TT.net & all those over there who were decent enough to offer help & advice.
If you are turned off by the tight confines of the Zed bay, take it from me, it aint all that bad. Just prepare & think about it first.

Dont be scared, just do it:p

    Cool sounds great

good job especially for your first time. Now all you have to do is put it back in :) lol. How much is the second hand motor costing and where you getting it from? Let me know before you do anything with your old engine i may need some parts if mine is in real bad nick. So you keeping the car for while or selling it after this?

    Cheers

Getting it back in will be the easy part...

I used masking tape & wrote what each thing was & where it goes as we took it off.
I got a motor from Ichiban for $2495 with 3months warranty.
The old motor will be sold complete & if you want it im chasing about $850 for it.
Im still going to sell the Zed & with 3months warranty on the new motor & a low K auto it should suit the new buyer really well, especially considering i will be chasing around $21000 for the car with the stereo in it.
    Cheers..........James
