hey everyone need some help. I was driving today and after about 30mins of driving it got hard to change gears. The gears were crunching a bit too and the clutch dropped a tad too. This happened about a month back too on the M5... luckily there was a break down lane. It fixed it self after like 10 mins tho so i didn't check it. The exact same thing happened today. It got better after i was changing gears while stationary till it got a bit smooth then it was all fine after a while. I got a feeling it might be something electrical.. unless the zed heals itself:p

Haven't tried searching as my nets capped. Took me ages just to get on here so if this a common prob pls dont flame me:p
Anyways any help would be appreciated:)

hmmm how did ya fix it?? I don't see how it over heated... it was like a 30min drive... i drive to and from uni 3 days a week and takes 1.5 - 1hr each way. I've even gone on a short road trip(2hrs ish each way) after the 1st time it screwed up. it was cold and raining today as well. I was even shifting at 2000 & no more than 3000 today.

could be air in the clutch system.. bleed it out.

and while your at it. change the fluid in your tranny... cant hurt to do process of elimination. also once you do it you wont need to worry about it again.

Noting that it happens when cold it suggest the oil is a factor. However after 30mins of driving it would have heated up enough. I strongly suggest you have air in the clutch line, the fact that pumping it on the road side indicates this too.
To check next time you have trouble changing gear, instead of forcing it into gear, pump the clutch pedal 3-5times quickly. If it slides into to gear then, it is air. if not then it's something else, have you check the floor mat is not in the way? (ie. it isn't going all the way down.
Another couple of options is the pivot bearing is failing. (this is a big job). To check pull up on a level surface. push the clutch in and if oyu hear a squealling bearing, it is stuffed. Also, put it in first gear and hold the cltuch in if the car starts to walk forwards, it suggests its stuff (as long as the clucth line is confirmed free of air, as it can give the same symptom.).

yea seems like its just air in the lines... i checked and the car doesn't move forward with the clutch held in gear. Thanks everyone:D
