Hi all, I am trying to sort out some things that have been done to my car in the past and have run across these three plugs, I cannot find them in the manual (I find it very hard to decipher plug locations) does anybody know what they are & where/if the should be plugged in?

    any help is much appreciated.

These two are under the steering column above the aircon duct.

This one is just in front of the handbrake under the console.

The electrical wiring manual is a nightmare when its comes to Z's - so I know exactly what you mean!:eek:

The wiring harnesses for Z's are generic to fit all models, so in any Z you will find a lot of connectors that don't go anywhere in all models - that's normal and doesn't mean anything is missing.

Is it a manual or auto / jdm or auspec / tt or NA are all relevant questions here?

The blue connector pictured definitely goes to your brake switch along side the grey black connector which also connects to the other brake switch in the same location - on certain models (do you have two switches on your brake pedal is the first question!)

The other one looks like the handbrake switch or an excess connector froma range of items in that location such as the cigarette lighter plug but I don't know anything about your model to confirm or deny its identity!

Thanks for that, yeah sorry should have said its a factory manual 92 Aus spec, I have two issues I am trying to sort , one is that when I depress the clutch the handbrake light comes on, not important just annoying, the other is the Speed sensitive steering does not work at all apart from every now and then I get a few seconds of it when reversing 1st thing of a morning, then a few seconds in forward motion, and its gone, hence my earlier post re neutral switch, I am thinking that for some reason some wiring like the neutral switch was disconnected and is possibly the cause of the steering issue, so I am trying to get it as close as I can to what it would have come out of the factory as to see if it fixes that before I go looking at replacing control units etc. If you think that the 2nd one is the handbrake switch that poses another question because the handbrake light does work with the handbrake??

I am pretty sure the black connector near the handbrake (should have three pin connections) is for the suspension sports settings on relevant models - which you most likely don't have - (I don't have it either so my plug goes to nowhere as well)

    Hope this is helpful

Check the connector near the steering rack - I suspect your problem is there or with the speed sensor.

I don't see the neutral switch being the problem here but if you have idle issues, then it may be a separate issue.

My bad with the handbrake switch - I was just guessing roughly because there is a lot of connectors there - I actually think it is for the suspension sports settings as it also has the length for it and it would most likely be a three pin connector (you can confirm this in the FSM) - I don't have your problems and so I don't think the connector is relevant to any issue given mine is not connected either (I don't have sports suspension settings and just have my mirror controls but my all electrical's work fine)

Do you have a clutch switch on your pedal is my next question?

Then I think that problem is between the clutch switch and the handbrake light or switch (wondering if the connectors have been put on the wrong one)
    Would explain some issues here

All good - hope you get it sorted

Wish you had the pic of your pedals in there - would help me get my head around what's going on with them - lol - All good anyway...

    O.K. Dokeley ..... here goes:

    1. Brake pedal switch or radio earth?- should have a red wire though and perhaps a grey plastic end piece on the black connector if its for the pedal. (If its singular connector it might be the actual earth that sits near the radio instead hence why the wire looks like a different colour and has some length to it.

    2. The blue connector is the other Brake light switch as mentioned previously

    3. I have no idea on the white connector- it looks like the connector from the annoying chime sound box connector (which would explain why - as it often gets removed) and is right up high behind the dash, from memory its a white connector and it has the length to get there, it would also has the hold fast plastic wiring tab on it which keeps it all the way up there - bloody hard to feel for it right up there, let alone see it

    4. Runs off to your steering column - I think its actually for the light around the key switch (from memory)

    Cheers

    Pic including pedals

As you can see the brake is already plugged in as is the clutch so I am still at a loss as to what these plugs are, unless they are something to do with TT wiring maybe?
