Hey, Instead of using an adapter I'm looking at removing the RS232 connector and soldering a USB socket on my conzult circuit board. http://www.jaycar.com.au/productVie...d2=&pageNumber=&priceMin=&priceMax=&SUBCATID= Using this schematic does anyone know where the wires running to the RS232 port now go to the 4 pin usb connector? I can work with electronics but not design Thanks
Question about conzult... Bit of a noob question but where can I get this conzult and how does it work? Is it a programe that runs on a laptop connected to your ecu right? Cheers for the info :zlove:
Caz1 BlaZt cables and s/ware HERE. DrewZ ...RE: Serial to USB converters; get one that is compatible, NOT all will work.
There's a lot of programs you can run....check out: http://www.zcontrol.net/ That's where I got the design for my circuit board and you can also download Zcontrol which is a great monitoring program. The circuit is just an interface between your computer and the Z's conzult port. There are plenty of free programs around but the full conzult must be paid for, I only have the freeware version.
Kinda. Firstly there is Consult. This is a hardware box with built in LCD screen that connected into the port in the car. This spat out a "register reciept" type diagnostic of your car. Generally only dealers have this as it used to be around $1k. Then there are software applications that utilize a laptop or a PDA to hook into the car via what is known as a Conzult cable. These cables come in 2 varieties: conzult port to USB, and consult port to 9-pin serial port, and can be obtained through members here (Caz1) and are around $130 in price. Once you have the right hardware (laptop/PDA and conzult cable) there are many software choices. The main ones are: * Conzult: There are numerous versions including a limited functionality free version, and a "tuner" version for around $250-$300 (from memory). Lots of sensor monitoring, guage displays, and diagnostics options to help trace issues. * Datascan: This is around $40. Similar to Conzult but not quite as comprehensive. * ECU Xtend: Around $600 from memory although there has been unconfirmed talk of a price reduction. Provides guage displays and ECU tinkering. * ECU Talk: This software also works on PDA's or laptops, and is similar to the freeware version of conzult. Has guage display of sensors and data logging. The great thing about this app is that it is currently being updated. Hope this helps.
There is a lot of free programs, I'm surprised people charge for programs which simply read and display the data, Consult is different obviously. Ztalk, Ecutalk, Calumsult, etc. If you have an emulator there are free programs such as Liveedit which allow you to do just that with the maps. Cheers, Matt
