    g'day,
it hasn't happened to me yet, but last night i drove past a broken down car with its hazard lights on and it got me thinking.

if my car broke down and i pulled up on the side of the road, i'd turn the hazard lights on.
if i left the car for whatever reason, but didn't want to leave the car unlocked, so i put my alarm on (rigged up to central locking, immobiliser etc.), would the hazard lights still work?
would the hazard lights set my alarm off?

guess there is one way to find out........

just curious if its different for everyone etc. with their alarm setup

    It depends on your alarm

and how it's configured. Quite a few alarms have current/voltage sensing, which means if they sense a change in voltage they trigger the alarm.

The hazard lights might not drain much current and therefore the voltage drop might not be enough to trigger the alarm.

However, most alarms give you the option to switch certain features off to avoid such issues.

For the quick answer why not test it. I suggest leaving the driver's side window down, turn you alarm on (might need to wait 60 seconds or so for it to initialise), then turn the headlights on as they draw a lot of current.
