    hi guys...

just need some measurements of the vg30dett.

pretty much just the width at the top ( driver to passenger side of plenum)
and the widest point of the bottom end (turbo to turbo)

just want to compare the sizes so i can get things sorted out before i go away for a couple months.

    cheers

    Hope this helps.

My stock TT engine is 745 mm wide at the point where the discharge pipes leave the compressors.
They kink outwards a bit, 770 mm at their widest point near the front of the engine.
The compressor intake pipes are wider again.

I pushed 2 bag trolleys against the engine parts, used a spirit level to set them perpen-fookin-dicular, then measured between the uprights.

Plenum width - Do you mean just the plenum itself or including the attachments on the sides ?
Turbo to turbo - can't tell you, my bag trolleys are too tall to push in against the turbos. :D
But the RHS turbo is well inside the width of the discharge pipe.
LHS actuator is barely inboard of the pipe.

Chuck a VH45 in. Mazworx make a whole kit for the conversion, everything from the mounts, to the gearbox adapter to extractors to the wiring harness. :D

    I would :D

    dont tempt me!

nah, i'd rather the vg30dett atm, i could go for a built sr capable of well over 300rwkw but for that price i can do something more unique that i'm pretty sure only a handfull of people have done.

i'll prob be getting it done up at powertune in north sydney, they do alot of zed box conversions in the silvia's so the only things that need to be fab'd up are the engine mounts, the exhaust, they also do the haltec ecu and dash for a decent price tuned so will prob go with that too.

just going to buy an s14 with enough suspension work and hopefully i can find one with the JDM kit and chuck on the navan spoiler too :D

guy in canberra put a VG30 into a S13. the car becomes very front heavy. in the wet became tail happy.

I can only see it being good as a track car.

i've looked into the conversion and due to the design of the vg, nearly ALL the weight is above and behind the front axel, so the weight distribution is very good for the chassis.

plus... i'll be driving one of these so a tail happy s14 will be the least of my problems lol

Not in a S14 it won't be... You'll need a custom sump too.

j30, kinda like the q45 but smaller with a vg instead of the vh.

going to get streeter to hunt one down as they were a jap only car, shouldnt cost me too much.

come down to sydney over christmas and show me how your zed does first... then i'll decide.

with the conversion kit you linked it would prob the the smarter/easier option!

It should be at Zedfest, so you can make it up there to see me :p

Remember with the Mazworx kit I don't think the extractors would clear the steering column.

Check this build out, VH into a S13 on SAU. Clicky

It'll give you a good idea on what is required. There are quite a few good builds on Nico documenting everything from start to finish as well. Most are S13, but there is the occasional Z32, turbo Q45 etc.
