this happened to my old purple car. Dip stick popped out now and again when boosting at 16 psi.
A compression test revealed that pot 6 was 50 psi which meant the rings on that piston were cactus.

Reducing boost to 12 psi stopped the dip stick moving.

    Good luck..

Its a patch for a screwed engine not a rebuilt one.

Aren'T you going to tell us where the boost goes ?

good work man ... the problem will still be there , but less pressure

it ok not to use then , he must be running a by pass system , like pete's car ,

hey brisz , this is what you said , ( "I drilled out the "washer" in the PCV pipe to about twice the size'' )

inside the pcv itself , there is a washer , and this is what you say you drilled out ....

inside the pipe there is no washer , there is a restrictor..

one can only assume you mean the pvc itself ....

there must be a misunderstanding somewhere ...

what did you drill out ????????

Done the oil and Just back from a quick squirt, well nearly an hour of driving and it hasnt done it again..yet...Ill try n get this comp test done today anyway.
Also Chris, no air really coming out of the oil filler cap when running.

Now now brisz and badxtc, you both are correct but are talking about 2 different parts.

PCV valves are under plenum as you both know, brisz did not drill these out. He opened up the orifice in the intake cam cover vent pipes.

Yes you can drill these out to eleviate some pressure, no you cant drill out the pcv valves, boost will fill the sump as the valve will no longer work.

Excessive blowby either blown headgasket if you are also getting black blue smoke, aswell as rooted piston rings. Compression going through the rings into the crank case or compression getting into the oil galleries probably worn rings. Alleviating a pcv is not a good soloution, it just masks the problem.

Wont be a head gasket failure causing blow by.

The minimum ID of factory pcv hoses is 8mm, this is the steel pipe that runs from the left hand exhaust cam cover to the right pcv on the plenum. I you are using 6mm hose, the factory hose has a 33% larger ID, this may cause an issue with ventilation. I use 16mm hose from cam covers to both pcv's. Correct your hose size, replace the dipstick if it is loose and perform a comp test. If the car runs rough at idle when cold, that is a sure indication the comp is down and a rebuild is due.

It is not uncommon for an old engine to blow the dipstick under some good boost, or a new engine to blow it out with high boost.

The best bet when running high boost is to use an oil catch can, the oil carry over can be quite substantial and will cause other issues in the intake tract.

yeah i thought he was talking about that .........

I'm have read some of his previous post in the past , and he does know what he is talking about , and it got me thinking , that we both must be talking about 2 different things , well it does happen ,, but all good ..i was shocked when i read drilling out the pcv , I'm like wtf.

and yes we are both right ,,,

the pcv itself cant not be drilled out ,,

and yes the restrictor can be drilled out

just a misunderstanding by to people about 2 different things ... its all good.
i hope you guys had a good read ......lol...

I tried to sort out the misunderstanding but you weren't interested and quiet rude.

Fact: I contributed information on topic.

    Fact: You did not.

If the above is meant to constitute some sort of apology, consider it accepted.

    Keep it real. :)
