OS.Giken or Exedy? I understand that any twin plate will rattle with the clutch in but otherwise? Z is a weekender, some road driving but mostly race circuit stuff. And yes, all options are being considered including a big single plater.

its easier to get parts for the exedy. That would determine my choice.

Getting clutch parts from Japan is a pain. I went through it getting them for my 2 plate clutch

Nismo coppermix is supposed to be very smooth and maybe a good consideration for a weekender? Haven't ever driven a twinplate myself but the comment from my mechanic that has fitted and driven several coppermixes is that it's "like driving a corolla".

NISMO twin plates are very easy to live with. I have a Gmax in mine and have been driving it daily for nearly a year, its easier than a button clutch to drive. Also NISMO clutches are made by Exedy so easy for replacement parts

z1 do a twin plate clutch kit, I was seriously considering it but went with a big 5 puck instead. Well priced too, and readily available spares.

I have OS.Giken twin plate. It is not the best for street driving but fun in 2nd gear and 3rd. Rebuild parts cost $1100 and you can get them locally. Similar cost from japan with postage cost. Next option is Jim berry full monty single plate ($1200 to $1300).

Talk to Jim Berry - he has forgotten more than most about clutches. I have used a SACHS twin-plate clutch in my race car for 15 years and apart from scheduled servicing, have never had a moments worry.

Try Direct Clutch services in Albion. I had my TP OS Giken clutch completely overhauled by them for $660. I know they sell new stock as well. Worth a call.

The NPC twin plate is a beauty, had a look at one, and would probably be my choice even at $2250 for the full kit. But on further advice I'm going with an upgraded big single.

Thanks all for the input, it all helps :)

tassuperkart Its a lie I tell you!

FWIW, my M8 uses a 4.5" Tilton 5 plate with an auto flex plate and a small custom steel "flywheel" to carry the tiny clutch.
    Good for about 1500bhp.
Literally one toe to push the pedal down (throttle is about as heavy) and your granny could drive it!!!!!

I have a z1 twin plate in my car, next week I'll get it back for the first time.
if I could of spent an extra 1,500 I would of went nismo as it came highly Recomended by Andrew at ASR but z1 looks great on paper cheap to buy compared to the others twins on the market and cheap to rebuild also I'll let yous know how it goes next week.
