Hello all I was led totally astray by someone I think (no Names mentioned) and a manual vacuum drawing I picked up I have says different? So I am hoping to confirm which one is actually correct. I am trying to work out if my vacuum lines are the right way around - see pic So is the top / bottom vacuum hardpipe line the Recirc or Carbon Canister and does it go to the balance bar or the mid plenum. For the curiousity of it all - what would happen if they are the wrong way around? (would it blow off to the carbon canister and then smell like petrol etc?) BTW : Thanks for taking the time to read this post. Regards Jamie - Misszens other half :zlove:
bit early to bump I know - but want to fix asap and its 10 down already - lol please...anyone confirm? cheers
Man I know exactly what you're asking but I just have no idea, and all my carbon canister lines have been ripped out... just wiggle the lines? hold the far end of the BOV hard line and move them from the bay to check for force transfer?
jamerss - thats what I went off but someone senior said it was the other way around given that all vacuum lines have some petrol fumes - does that mean you cant use silicon anywhere chrispy?
That is not correct, all vacuum lines on the engine will not see petrol fumes. The carbon canister is to store petrol fuems and release them back into the engine. The lines see petrol fumes only.
Cool - are there any other lines that I cant use silicon on as well or is it just the carbon canister? BTW Thanks heaps Chrispy!
It is in the tech section rob - thats where I got it from myself, The problem with this pic is that the vacuum to plenum is shown as being the pipe at the top when in fact it is in the centre - thats why I need confirmation on which pipe is for the carbon canister and recirc.
