A mate of mine wants 300zx but is getting some feed back that the r33/34 skyline is quicker. so now he is in what the hell should i do land i reckon even if the sky line is quicker the zed is of better build quality have any of you guys got any skyline vs zx figures or anilation stories. zedman
ttzed is faster. obviously it depends on how much you mod each, and if your going into that land well it just depends on how much money you want to spend to get firgures. but a stock tt zed, with everything working as it should, all you would need is a $30 manual boost controller set to 12psi which is safe on a stock ecu and you will be eating skylines. for them to get such power figures they'd have to do alot more.....but like i said if everything is working the way it should... imho zx are far more sexual kitted than a skyline. the only skyline id choose over a zed would be a GTR R32, other than that i wouldnt touch a skyline personally speaking.
join up on the skyline forum,ask this same question and compare the answers,that would be interesting to see
^^^you already know wat skyline owners will say...there answers are justified at those zx's that are poorly maintenanced and not running the way a zed should be running. ie. overheating, slow, etc... tell him if he doesnt like to work on his own car, then dont get a zed...the zed outdoes the skyline with complexity, and if he got workshops to do work on the cars he would be looking at mega dollars for the zeds. so unless he likes to work on his cars him self, dont bother telling him about the zed world. it is a bitch to work on full stop and z mechanics charge an arm and leg to work on them because other mechanics either dont know shit about them or they dont want to work on them at all...
The only thing your mate needs to keep in mind is $$$$$$ i love the zed to death but i gotta admit it drains alot of money... :bash::bash: :bash: :bash:
Dollar for Dollar mods the Zed will kick a skyline even a GTR if the zed is peddled well. I have proven this plenty of times with the SAU guys at various track days and drag events
300zx vs r33 i know what you mean about $$ i work on my zed my self but i can double the maintence for me might tell him to keep his commadore
Well my mate has a 97' series 2 R33 gtst, and even though we havent quite dragged properly yet, having driven it, there is very little between my stock 90' TT, (he only has turbo back zorst running 10psi) and his beast. But i can definately believe ours can be faster with less effort, and the zed turns a lot more heads on the street
My slightly modded NA is only just slower than a GTS-T. Can keep up with a little effort, flogs it through the twisties. A TT in good nick will eat it.
drag and dyno i owned all the skylines at the dyno day iwent to ,including 2 32 gtr's. i have beaten at least 20- 25 skyline gts-t and gtr's. but all that means is that i havent come across a skyline more powerfull than my car. many of them do exist. there are heaps of kill stories on this forum. search for em
300 vs skyline yep there's nothing better than eating skylines for breakfast im running pretty much stock all but x pipe hi flow exsaust k&h hi flow intakes 9psi boost but there are always much quicker cars out there but even the chase can be fun in the right place & time of cource
Any car will perform well if the dollars are spent. When I drove back from Melbourne with my zed, I stopped bye in Rockhampton and got talking with the owner of the motel I was staying at about Nissan sports cars. He showed me his R34 that he had spent > $50,000 on. The dyno chart showed 730HP and he was aiming for 1000HP when he had NOS and a few other mods put in.
Skylines....... just another jap car, nothing special, no real beauty, no eye catching lines, not even a head turner....... Just another jap car that blends into the mob! Lets be honest here..... a Chrysler 300C has more sex appeal than a skyline ! ( also quicker too so I've heard !! ) ( my god !! a sexy & quick Valiant !! ) ZX's, Complex jap car, amazing styling to the point its STILL a head turner 20 years later ! Ofcourse ya mate might think he's kewl crusin around with a few mates in the skyline, but I recon he'd be happier crusin around with a couple of chicks instead ! :zlove: Skylines DONT pull good looking females, dont belive me go out and look for ya self, I havent met a single skyline owner that has ever pulled a chick better than a 6/10 on the "I'd hit it " scale, whereas 300 females are hawt ( havent met a single female thats been in a zx that dosent get atleast a 7/10........ ( note I used the word YET !! ) Ofcourse if your only looking at the "speed" issue, then its simple ....... Not one single skyline has ever gotten past my rear bumper & there's no 'yet' in that statement ! Am I biased ???????? probably !!! But our little club was prodominately skyline, its now 50/50 and the zeds are taking over :biggrin:
Hehe, yeah stock Gts-t will be killed by a stock 300ZX. Actually, manual Gts-t with exhaust and pod intake will be killed by an auto 300ZX with stock zorsts running on safety boost (lol, funny story that).
That's a GTR though. 4WD makes a huge difference. Gts-t are just RWD so more comparable. We make the same power as a GTR but can't get it down as well at the start. And was it stock? I think he means stock for stock. once you start spending money things can vary hugely.
To run a 10.9 with any car requires a LOT of money to thrown at it. Rear drive vs. 4WD at those power levels the 4WD will win a drag most of the time due to shear traction issues. Take the same 2 cars to the track and the results would be different right JP and Jas? :zlove: :zlove: Oh, and stock for stock (both in good working order), the mighty Z32 TT will hose a skyline (even a GTR) :zlove: Cheers Rob
Yeah pretty muc Rob. As stated above $ per $ mod GTS-T or even GTR to 300ZX it will be pretty even and come down to the driver. GTR on the strip will have a distinct advantage and even on the track through the corners. Its a lot closer match GTR to 300zx with the same mods and would depend greatly on the driver
