    89 Model
    81 000km
    Silver factory standard.
    MINT condition

Looking for full insurance and was wondering if going by the market value would be a bad idea?

I was looking into Budget and NRMA insurance companies.

    Thanks guys.

    Benny_C About as subtle as...

TT or NA? Targa or Slicktop? 5spd or Auto? etc....

Either way, probably between $10-15k if in good nick.

    Also, Aus Spec or import?

A locally delivered car with 81000 probably genuine kms would be worth rather more than an import with 81000 very dubious kms.

I remember NRMA did the market value for my 89 zed, they dropped it to 8000 eventually and it was in pretty good condition too. I'd go for an agreed value if you can because then you've got some space to move if they decide to drop the value, which they most likely will. My current zed i have insured with NRMA for a relatively high agreed value for that reason.

Never get insurance for market value. My mum's fiance insured his 4x4 for market value since at the time it was roughly $35k. 4 years later it was stolen, and the "market value" for it had dropped to under $9k.

So that's all he recieved, and he only had enough to buy a 2nd hand commadore as a replacement.

If he couldn't replace the vehicle for that much, then that wasn't really the market value.

Well since it was stolen so they couldn't get anyone to assess it (it's been 2 years and it still hasn't been found), they just had to go by the current 2nd hand market value of that particular vehicle... i guess the rest of them aren't kept in such good condition? o_O

I'm not exactly sure of the entire situation, nor do i remember what make or model the 4x4 was, but i was with him when he went in to make the claim and they basically just said "this is all it's worth now, this is all you're getting, you should have gone with agreed value instead.".

If he really wanted to buy another one with the settlement money, he could have, but the other ones out there weren't in anywhere as good condition as his was in.

    market value is 9k...

and as for the 4x4.. yeah if the market value was under 9,

    1) means the others the same would be for sale for under 9
    2) mustnt have been a very good 4x4 to drop 25k in 4 years lol
