What to upgrade next?

    Hey all

As the car progresses along Ive realised that it'll end up being a never ending project.

As such, I cant really decide what to do next, nor what would be best. As it happens, group buys and specials generally dictate when something is upgraded but I figure a general game plan wouldn't be a bad thing.

Since the engine blew Ive put a fair bit into it:

    Rebuild:

    New heads
Nissan OEM 300ZX Clutch Slave Cylinder
Nissan OEM 300ZX 120,000 Mile Timing Belt Kit w/ Drive Belts
    New engine mounts
Nissan OEM 300zx PCV Complete Hose Set TT
Nissan OEM 300ZX Engine Gasket Kit (90-93) (bar metal head gaskets)
Wiseco 300ZX Piston Set Twin Turbo
    Eagle Con Rods
All hoses silicone where possible (boost, intercooler, radiator etc).

Since the car has been up and running:

    Apexi pod filter.
    Gizzmo EBC.
    Japtek SMICs
    Larger Radiator
    Rad guide
    Front/rear strut bars
    Front/rear camber arms
    Currently Bridgestone Adrenaline all round.
    Braided brake lines
    Slotted Rotors
    upgraded pads/fluid

    Um... forgotten shit here....

    Stuff im unsure of:

Exhaust. Larger than stock but unsure of how far it goes, etc.
Suspension. Shocks and chopped springs (previous owner) harsh ride.
    ECU. Havnt looked :p

Now where too next? So far I have been concentrating on making it a strong package which will be able to handle higher loads later on, and beign more concerned with the handling and stopping abilities rather than the power. The engine/braking is solid. I have no complaints. Cosmetically im not too fazed. Car can look a little daggy so long as it goes ok. Front bar (Bomex or WW copy), finish brazillian (3rd brake light) and roof resprayed. Similarly engine bling needs to be functional.

Car has not had a tune since the rebuild. No Bastard in Tassie does them as far as im aware. ECU upgrade? If so, which sort?

Considering my options for CarPC at the moment, given the cheap price of EEE PC's now. Will be getting Datascan (since im a 1990, manual, TT - the extra features of ConZult wouldn't be worth it). Could also use this lappy to help tune the ECU.

Probably the safest option, as the car is running a little rich on start up. However Im thinking that it might be chipped already. This is due to the EBC running 0.98 BAR (16.8 PSI) on 4 gain, with no pinging. oil pressure holds steady, as does coolant temp. No leaks apparent (apart from power steering and that fkn hose). Depending on driving styles, i can get 550km to a tank, or 350... Once warm the engine idles at approx 800 RPM, very steadily.

Suspension is an obvious need, and would finish up the braking/suspension area. Tein SS again are pretty obvious choice, however cheaper options?

If* i go down the route of ECU, might as well save and upgrade injectors, fuel pump and rail, and turbos at the same time. Waiting to see how these Hypergear ones work out. If i get a tune, then upgrade more shit... have to tune it again. Might as well do it in one hit.

So what would you guys do?

    So far im thinking:
Datascan, coilovers, front bar + brazilian, ECU + injectors + tune...Throw some HIDS in there if i have spare change lying around.

Really tho, i got no idea :p

Just late night ponderings i guess, and wishful thinking...

you have a rebuilt engine with forgies and still running stock turbos....

    TURBOS
    MANIFOLDS
    3" DUMPS
    INJECTORS
    300 Degree Rails

TUNE or aftermarket ecu such as microtech or power fc (if your close 2 UAS)

450 to 500 hp on pump fuel

that should take care of that cash burning a hole in your pocket

    :p

After buying the car, having it blow up, then rebuilding with limited cash...

Wasnt so keen to pull the engine out again in a hurry, and at the time - a car running was a whole lot better than saving money for bigger turbos and having the car sitting there.

Forgies were in preparation for the eventuality that I did end up with the dosh. Alas, still a way off but I want to plan it out a little better is all. Wish i had the cash in my pocket :p

Thank you for adding manifolds + dumps to the list. should have thought of that.

UDP? 650cc injectors or higher? 3" dumps? Hi-Tech ECU. Or get current ecu socketed liek other members here.

    All the above^^^ :)

There is no need for anything more than 555cc injectors... you don't want a huge injector unless you really are going to use it because otherwise they can loose dosing accuracy.

555cc nismos have been proven to be good for 600rwhp anyway, I think thats more than enough for what Helliquin is after.

The amec race car made 437rwkw (586RWHP) on nismo 555cc.... close enough to 600hp.

Well maybe i went a bit over the top (14hp:rolleyes:), but my point was unless you are building a real monster then i think 555cc injectors are good enough for any street Z, no need for 650 and larger!

Nismo 555's are also a lot better than other options, as they fit direct to the stock fuel rail. Why you would want to upgrade fuel pump, and fuel rail I don't understand as it is unnecessary.

First thing you should do is save for some coil overs. Once that is done, save money to get the exterior sorted, as it's rough as guts with your gaffer tape, and zip ties (you are a disgrace to fellow Z32 owners)!!! :bash:

After that, if you are thinking of upgrading turbos/full exhaust/fuel system/tune... I don't see you having that sort of ca$h before 2020
