Hey guys so some of you may be following my thread on my rebuild. For those not, I bought my Zed with a 'supposed' broken crank. We got the engine out on Saturday and dropped the sump, and the crank is still in one peice all the rods are still in tack and turning as they should, and looking inside the exhaust outlet the pins on each side are moving. So my next plan on attack is to pull the heads off and have a look at the valve's and make sure theyre ok. What else should I be checking before I put it back together and hope it runs? Cylinder pressure? Scoring in Cylinders? Any light is much appreciated as I can get a new block and heads with warranty for $700 but don't feel like spending it if I don't have to.
Would have been nice to have done a compression test on it. That would would have told you a bit about overall condition and possible issues. Can you still do this with it on the ground before you pull the heads?
I could possibly. Just need a gauge which im pretty sure I can get from work. I don't think I have taken too much off the top to compromise this.
